Tap @ Mekong shared with HopTsing. Jim Beam. Very dark with big mocha head and generous lacing. Definite bourbon smell with chocolate and cherry. Flavor is a little earthy and chocolaty. Reminds me of Black Forest Cake for some reason.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampled at the brewery release. Very cool way to see the effect of each barrel, but in the end, it just seemed like a bourbon tasting, which was perfectly fine by me :) All the beers poured a near black with minimal rings of dark tan head. Some had longer lasting head than others. The base beer was sweet roasty milk chocolate with a medium chewy somewhat silky body, that varied only slightly. Four Roses was my favorite of the group.
Four Roses - The smoothest of the group with hints of dark berries and a small drying on the palate. 8/4/8/4/16 - 4.0
Makers Mark - This one had slightly sweeter notes like that of honey and a fair amount of bourbon character. 8/4/7/3/15 - 3.7
Stitzel Weller - More woody than the others, also came off as having a bit more complex character, but the body had an alcohol bite. 8/4/7/2/14 - 3.5
Wild Turkey - This was the one with the hottest finish and boy did it burn all the way down! Really didnít care for this one, but it was Patrickís favorite. 7/4/7/2/14 - 3.4
Bowmans - My second favorite of the group. This one had a little more of the booziness than the Four Roses, but otherwise similar notes. 8/4/8/4/15 - 3.9
Jim Beam - Most bourbony nose of all the variants. Vanilla on the flavor with a harsh woody finish. 8/4/7/2/14 - 3.5
Heaven Hills - One of my least favorites. The bourbon was VERY prevalent and it was not very good. Harsh finish. 7/4/7/3/13 - 3.4
Reservoir - Best aroma out of all the variants. Even found weird marshmellow note in there! But the flavor was EXTREMELY harsh burning alcohol. It just seemed really young and hot. 9/4/7/1/13 - 3.4
