4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Had a vertical of 2013-2015. 2014 was drinking the best. 2013 was a bit past its prime and really didn’t get as much Ginger bread. I recommend sitting on this beer for year. So my rating is for the 2014

How: Bottle (750 ml) at tasting. From Frank, thanks!
>>> A good barrel-aged spicy stout that, despite not being easy drinking even for the style, is rather cohesive and well "balanced".
+ Spices, bourbon, caramel, and vanilla share the spotlight in a rather cohesive way
+ The barrel treatment is well executed and not overwhelming
− Despite being rather well balanced, a flavor profile like this one make the beer cloying quickly
− Although it’s deeper and more complex than the regular version, it still only have an average body for the style
○ Much better than the non barrel-aged version, which was really thin
Flavors: Ginger, bourbon, roasted malts, cinnamon, vanilla, caramel

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle shared by Armin, thanks! Pours near black with a brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma is full of gingerbread with dark chocolate and a dark grain backbone. Flavor is muddled with ginger and graham cracker up front and bourbon and dark grains in the finish.
