An assertive Imperial Stout aged 12 weeks in bourbon barrels and conditioned on custom roasted Sidamo coffee from Lamplighter Roasting Company, Bourbon Sidamo showcases the signature flavors of whiskey, roasted malt and Ethiopian coffee. This robust stout displays a midnight hue with a caramel head and offers a dark chocolate character laced with hints of blueberry from this unique coffee bean, rounded out by charred White Oak infused by an angelís share of Kentucky goodness.

750ml bottle into a snifter. A: Pours a very dark cola brown color that looks distressingly thin. The head starts off at about one fingers of a light khaki shade, but settles down to a thin collar after a short while. Not much lacing, as expected. S: No one note jumps out at me - rather, they tend to meld together quite well. I pick up some vanilla, touches of black coffee, chocolate, cream, molasses, and brown sugar. The bourbon presence is very subtle. T: The first sip seems to reveal the bourbon tones, only for the second sip to wash over that with mild coffee notes. After vanilla initially opens the palate, it develops strong nutty flavors in the middle before it finishes with some bitter coffee and maybe a speck of roasted barley. I think the coffee is stale here - though to be fair, itís not the freshest bottle so Iíll let it slide. It doesnít have an annoying vegetal component, at least. Well balanced and enjoyable. M: Itís texture is rather thin and even fragile, without much softness to make up for it. The finish is rather sweet and sticky; in spite of that, the drinkability is actually quite dangerous partly thanks to strong carbonation. The underwhelming body still kind of irks me, though. O: I have two quibbles here: itís not very ístout-yí, and itís way too thin. Otherwise, this is a decent BA coffee stout that focuses more on balance than big, bold flavor. At its price, though, I probably wonít buy another bottle, except for usage as trade bait.

From the bottle. Bourbon is light in taste and nose. Some coffee and roast. A bit faded? Nice.

This is a really awesome Stout from Hardywood. Big chocolate, coffee, and bourbon from the barrel. I can actually smell some of the bourbon in this one which a pleasant surprise seeing tons of these "bourbon barrel" stouts are lacking in the bourbon barrel department. Taste is full of chocolate, vanilla, bourbon and toasted coconut. You can definitely feel the alcohol but for 10.3 Iíd expect that. This is a really good stout and has all the flavors youíd want in something like it. I really donít have any complaints. Cheers.

750 mL bottle shared with ebone1988. 2013 vintage. The pour is a dark brown with a nice light tan head and a great clingy lace on the side. The aroma is very boozy. There is a bit of molasses and dark fruit. Licorice is dominating on the back end. No coffee is really present at all. Lots of roasted malt and booze. The flavor is much more malty and roast based. Licorice is huge and there is a touch of molasses with a little dark fruit. The coffee pokes through barely on the far back end. This kind of drinks like Expedition Stout, only thinner. The mouth feel is thin and watery. Not good. Carbonation is minimal. This is incredibly disappointing. The aftertaste is licorice and roast. I'm really disappointed into this. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle shared with koleminer20, 2013 vintage. Aroma is boozy, roasted malt, licorice, lighter than usual. Appearance is dark brown, light brown, great lacing. Taste is licorice, light, roasted malt, very very slight coffee, booze. Mouthfeel is disappointing, super light with decent carbonation. Overall, very very disappointing.

750 ml bottle. Pours a beautiful thick black with a foamy dark tan head. You get bourbon, coffee, vanilla, and roasts on the nose. The barrel aging with the Sidamo adds vanilla, caramel, and woodsy flavors without taking away from the coffee and roast. Thereís also bourbon booze and a hint of blueberry. Extremely pleasant.

Aroma of bourbon with a hint of toffee and caramel. Pours a dark black color with a well laced tan head. Taste of bourbon and hints of malt with a thick viscous feel and a mildly alcoholic finish.

It had a light coffee taste that for heavier as it warmed. The carbonation was perfect. A little oak and some at the end. Very light feel in the mouth considering the style, It got thicker as it warmed. Crisp up front and meaty in the end. Bottle

Bottle - 750ml corked and caged. Celebratory beer after the Manchester derby. The City of Manchester is RED! Black pour with a medium, foamy tan head. Lots of coffee, coconut, vanilla, dark chocolate roasted malt and soft booze int he aroma. Taste is slightly boozy with lots of vanilla, toasted coconut, roasted malt, dark oily coffee beans, hints of dark fruit and chocolate cake. Body is medium with a soft, creamy carbonation, light stickiness and mild warmth. Ends with more dark coffee, toasted coconut, big vanilla, dark chocolate, brown sugar and roasted malt notes.

Big bottle. Poured very dark small head. Vanilla, oak bourbon and coffee. OK but a bit over sweet
