COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An assertive Imperial Stout aged 12 weeks in bourbon barrels and conditioned on custom roasted Sidamo coffee from Lamplighter Roasting Company, Bourbon Sidamo showcases the signature flavors of whiskey, roasted malt and Ethiopian coffee. 750ml bottle into a snifter. A: Pours a very dark cola brown color that looks distressingly thin. The head starts off at about one fingers of a light khaki shade, but settles down to a thin collar after a short while. Not much lacing, as expected. S: No one note jumps out at me - rather, they tend to meld together quite well. I pick up some vanilla, touches of black coffee, chocolate, cream, molasses, and brown sugar. The bourbon presence is very subtle. T: The first sip seems to reveal the bourbon tones, only for the second sip to wash over that with mild coffee notes. After vanilla initially opens the palate, it develops strong nutty flavors in the middle before it finishes with some bitter coffee and maybe a speck of roasted barley. I think the coffee is stale here - though to be fair, itís not the freshest bottle so Iíll let it slide. It doesnít have an annoying vegetal component, at least. Well balanced and enjoyable. M: Itís texture is rather thin and even fragile, without much softness to make up for it. The finish is rather sweet and sticky; in spite of that, the drinkability is actually quite dangerous partly thanks to strong carbonation. The underwhelming body still kind of irks me, though. O: I have two quibbles here: itís not very ístout-yí, and itís way too thin. Otherwise, this is a decent BA coffee stout that focuses more on balance than big, bold flavor. At its price, though, I probably wonít buy another bottle, except for usage as trade bait.

This coffee stout has a slight sweet woody nose; Dark opaque brown color with quickly dissapating head; Velvet smooth mouth feel with slight alcohol burn at back of throat and a bitter sweet malt boubon taste with just a very slight coffee taste and bitter chocolate on the pallet. Finishes quickly with a bitter coffee malt flavor.

750ml bottle shared by friends. Pours a deeper blackish hue. Frothy brown head is mellow, a decent ringer and subtle lacing overall. Aromas are rich, chocolatey, and subtle oakiness. Mellow spirit, firm roast and chocolate, jabs of vanilla. Firm coffee, subtle berry. Initial is fuller bodied, enough to support a decent barrel kick. Spirit, vanilla, and warmth meet chocolate, caramel, oak and coffee. Rich, silky, a bit warm and certainly desserty. Tasty stuff.

Bottle from a good friend. It poured a dark brown almost black color with a tan head. The aroma was of roasted coffee, caramel, bourbon, oak, chocolate and some cherry. The taste was similar to the aroma with more sweet chocolate, coffee, oak and bourbon. Very tasty.

Opaque black with a tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, charred wood, vanilla, bourbon, caramel, coffee, and light alcohol. Taste of sweeter dark chocolate, roast, coffee, charred wood, vanilla and light bourbon.

From tap at Iron Abbey. Deep brown color. Nose of some coffee. Taste is mostly coffee with some subtle bourbon notes. A little less "bourbony" than other bourbon barrel ales that I have had. Very good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
