3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Free bomber courtesy of RABinVA. Thanks Ryan! Pull this out to celebrate my 900th Virginia rating! Pretty sure I’ve never had a blackberry milk stout before, so this should be interesting. Pours a clear blackberry color with a large creamy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of mild berries, chocolate, toffee, wood, vanilla. The taste is almost a bit sour. Bright, tart berries, wood, citrus, toffee, booze. Medium bodied. I might like a little more stout character, but overall this is very nice.

Thanks to D Froms for this! Deep plum colored pour. Definitely blackberry and raspberry, dark fruit, touches of roast, weirdly spritzy on the palate. Weird stuff.

22oz bottle pours a watery, mahogany brown with some cloudy, white head. Nose has plenty of blackberry, some toast, some chocolate. Flavor is sweet, fruity, more than just berries, some vanilla, some chocolate, a little licorice. Slightly watery, fruity finish. I wanted a bit more.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On draft at the brewery for the release party. Clear very dark brown pour with not much light tan head. There is a distinct sourness twinge - but it is more like a ’slight tartness’ than a ’crisp sourness’. Sweet and dark berry (which I thought cherry, before finding out it was blackberry). medium body, but maybe a little watery. Roast and a little weird note on the nose that I can’t quite place. Cinnamon in the background on the flavor and oakey on the tail end with a little bit of alcohol heat on the finish. Reminded me of New Belgium Clutch a little.
