Brewed with baby ginger from Casselmonte Farm and wildflower honey from Bearer Farms, Hardywood Gingerbread Stout captures the terroir of central Virginia in a rich, creamy libation with a velvety mouthfeel and an intriguing evolution of flavors from milk chocolate and vanilla to honeycomb and cinnamon to a snap of ginger in the finish. Deep, dark chocolate in color with a mahogany tint and a frothy, caramel colored head, Hardywood Gingerbread Stout offers aromatics of holiday spice originating from the ginger, and balanced with a generous dose of whole Madagascar bourbon vanilla beans and Vietnamese cinnamon. Milk sugar (lactose) contributes to the full body of this stout and tames its roasty character, while oats lend a silky quality. Enjoy fresh, or cellar for a special occasion. We hope Hardywood Gingerbread Stout contributes to your merriment this season.

Received in a trade with a generous BA. Beer has piqued my interest for awhile, I’m really happy to be finally giving this a try. Pours a pitch black in color with some brown hues around the edge of the glass. Nose is gingerbread, cinnamon, nutmeg, and all spice. Normally I think the nose would be taken over with spices in this beer, but the gingerbread is holding strong. It’s prominent and pleasant. Taste is dry gingerbread, it’s not overpowering, but it’s gentle and pleasant. There is the aforementioned spice and chocolate and just a little coffee. Moderate mouthfeel, light to moderate carbonation, and a long finish. This is exactly what I was hoping for. When I heard the description, I didn’t think it would live up to the flavor, but it surpassed my expectations. This would be an excellent holiday sipper at thanksgiving or Christmas.

Bottle - Gingerbread and some roast malts. Deep brown with a thin beige head. Ginger, vanilla and spice with a bit of a bitter finish. Not bad, but finish is a bit harsh.

Growler at Brony Tasting, DC. Amazing ginger-snap aroma. Dark brown. Lovely sweet body. Spicy baked sweets, so tasty and balanced well. Great specialty beer. I could drink lots of this.

750 ccs from Whole Foods Plymouth and Capone’s. Pours hazy dark brownish black, with a mahogany/ruby look at the edges through direct light. The head is 3-finger, tan, and creamy. This one looks great. Nose is delicisous gingerbread, roasty dark malt, spice. Tastes great, dark malt paired with an assertive gingerbread taste, raisins, cinnamon, nutmeg. Purists will bristle, but I find this to be an incredibly well made example of this style.

Backlogging here. Notes from memory. Paired this beast with some awesome freshly baked saffron rolls. Poured pitch black into a snifter with not much of a head at all. The aroma was amazing, lots of going on here, fresh ginger, big roasted malts, milk cocolate and coffee, sweet sweet honey. This is some great stuff. The flavour blew my socks of, this really is liquid gingerbread cookies. Roasted malts and coffee flavour, bit of burnt toast. The ginger really adds a nice touch while the honey coats the mouth and leaves an amazing lingering aftertaste. If you get the chance to try this beer DO IT!

Black pour with an orange hue, thin beige head and a light sticky lacing .... Aroma is of a gingerbread man for sure sweet sugary frosting and spicy ginger with some roasted aspects and cinnamon .... Taste has a nice burning and spicy ginger bite, cinnamon, sugary lactose/milk chocolate, light vanilla tones and roastedness to it .... Can def taste the hoppy bitter Ibus .... Fresh flavors spicy and hot in the finish ... Very nice flavors mouthfeel is somewhat silky a bit thinner than expected but still good stuff

750ml bottle pours a black color with a lot of frothy tan head. Was surprised at the carbonation after there was no pressure released when the cork came out. Really does taste just like gingerbread. Not just ginger, but all of the other spices to go with it. Would rather it was a little more sweet and less hop bitterness at the end.
