750 ml, caged and corked bottle from the brewery. This beer has the aroma and flavor of Christmas. The ginger comes through in the aroma along with some roasty malty goodness. It pours a dark ruby color with a nice lasting head. The taste is fantasit with notes of gingerbread, chocolate, caramel and toffee. The finish is nice and warming with a slight spiciness to it.

Bottle, shared by a kind soul, in a location remote of my dining room.
Pours a very dark brown with a decent head and good lacing on the glass.

The aroma is loads of ginger with some brown sugar and some roastiness. It’s more ginger forward than anything, but in the most inviting and appetizing way I’ve maybe ever experienced in a beer with ginger.

The flavor is gingery and surprisingly only lightly sweet. It’s got a nice light roastiness, and a nice spiciness. Like with the aroma though this is pretty centered around ginger with all the other elements complimenting that.

750 ml bottle. Thanks to Adam Jackson on this 2013 vintage. Yes, I am drinking a ginger bread beer in September, what to make a thing about it? Deep brown color with plenty of head retention. Aroma is a lot of spice, nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger and mild nutty hints.

The flavor is more along the true organic/ natural ginger bread flavor. Unlike a Boston beer made ginger bread stout I had holiday’s of beers past. This stout is subtle and integrated pretty well. The body is a tad thinner for a higher gravity stout, got to say the spice is nicely subtle. At 9.2 % with spice this is damn easy to down. Finishing snifter number two right now!

Tasted on 2/8/14 from a bottle at the RBWG Grand Tasting, big thanks to Drake for sharing. Pours completely black with an average brown head that slowly recedes to average, even lace. The nose is dark molasses and plenty of spicy ginger, it is really impressive how much this smells like a gingerbread cookie. The flavor is fairly sweet up front, moving to some bitterness and ginger spice, like a gingerbread cookie that is just a little bit burnt on the bottom. The body is full with very light carbonation and a long lightly bitter molasses and ginger finish.

750 ml bottle from RABinCO back when he was RABinVA - thanks again, Ryan! Pours a deep opaque brown with a huge tan head. Aroma of ginger, chocolate, holly, pine, earth, leaves, roast, and a splash of brown sugar. The flavor is the same. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and an earthy, spicy, smooth mouthfeel. Something is a little off here. I had higher hopes. It isn’t bad, just a little disappointing.

Bottle @ RBSG 2014 Grand Tasting. Very dark brown pour with a tan head. Aromas of molasses, ginger, clove, and cocoa powder. A bit of toffee and oatmeal. Decent roasted malt, too. Flavor is slightly sweet with some toffee, molasses, and oatmeal character. Mild bitterness of roasted malt and cocoa powder. Nice ginger spiciness.

Bottle I brought to the RBSG 2014 Grand Tasting at Schlafly Tap Room. 2013 release. Dark brownish black with light tan head. Aromas of ginger, mint, chocolate. Tastes of chocolate, ginger, light mint, caramel. Medium-full body with a dry finish. Better fresh but interesting to see how it’s changed with some mintiness coming through..
