COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed with baby ginger from Casselmonte Farm and wildflower honey from Bearer Farms, Hardywood Gingerbread Stout captures the terroir of central Virginia in a rich, creamy libation with a velvety mouthfeel and an intriguing evolution of flavors from milk chocolate and vanilla to honeycomb and cinnamon to a snap of ginger in the finish. Deep, dark chocolate in color with a mahogany tint and a frothy, caramel colored head, Hardywood Gingerbread Stout offers aromatics of holiday spice originating from the ginger, and balanced with a generous dose of whole Madagascar bourbon vanilla beans and Vietnamese cinnamon. Milk sugar (lactose) contributes to the full body of this stout and tames its roasty character, while oats lend a silky quality. Enjoy fresh, or cellar for a special occasion. We hope Hardywood Gingerbread Stout contributes to your merriment this season.

750 ml, caged and corked bottle from the brewery. This beer has the aroma and flavor of Christmas. The ginger comes through in the aroma along with some roasty malty goodness. It pours a dark ruby color with a nice lasting head. The taste is fantasit with notes of gingerbread, chocolate, caramel and toffee. The finish is nice and warming with a slight spiciness to it.

Bottle shared by a friend. A deep black pour with a tanned head. Nose is ofcourse loaded with spices, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, chocolate and dark malts. just full of spices and it has really nothing to do With gingerbread imo. Not my kind of beer

2/21/15. Sampled during RBWG 2015. Black pour with a nice tan head. Light ginger aroma, vanilla, loads of spice, can’t say it would specifically remind me of gingerbread. Bitter flavor, loads of spice, some sweetness, ginger, vanilla, etc. Not bad, but disappointed. Used to be overhyped for sure.

Bottle in line for blåbær. Thanks to Darrin. Pours black with a beige head. Aroma of cinnamon, gingerbread, sweet spices, chocolate, cocoa and cinnamon rolls. The taste has those same big and spicy notes and is overall sweet and spicy. Interesting but a bit too spicy with nothing to balance it out. Still tasty.

How: Bottle (750 ml) at tasting. From Frank, thanks!

>>> A surprisingly thin but otherwise decent spicy stout.

+ Spices, despite being the dominant flavor, aren’t offensive and are rather well integrated
The body was light to medium and combined with a rather weak mouthfeel, the result is that the beer felt really thin for the style
There was an unpleasant acidity in the taste
Not much depth or complexity
The bourbon barrel-aged version, although not stellar, was much better

Flavors: Ginger, roasted malts, cinnamon, lactic notes

Bottle. Thanks Tim. Aroma is full on, lots of ginger, pfeffernusse, creamy. Taste is full on too, rich, sweet, gingerbread, spice, coats the mouth. Creamy, vanilla. Dark fruit. Nutty. And nutty. (?)

Pours a dark brown with a reddish hue and a small off-white rim that leaves good lacing. Nose is of grapes and bourbon. Taste is of spices, chocolate, grapes. Moderately sweet. Body is full and carbonation soft. Overall a pretty tasty stout, not too ginger-forward in comparison to the BA version but still interesting enough.
