I probably didnít let this one "warm" up enough as there isnít the slightest bit of head on this pour. It is thick though, and it is black. Really heavy-looking. Might be the glass I chose though, because CPís pour had a nice half-finger of mocha-colored froth on top. This is a really thick and luscious beer. Heavy, slightly oily feel. Good carbonation. A sipper.
The first whiff of this smells exactly like freshly-baked gingerbread cookies. Spot on. They nailed it. Sweet bready aroma, vanilla, creme brulee, faint chocolate. Smells great. This beer starts out sweet for sure, with just a smidge of ginger on the finish. Sometimes when a sweet stout is "imperialized," it can get too sweet and cloying. Not this one. Great balance of sweetness and semi-bitter dark chocolate. Vanilla, sugar cookies, ginger, roasted cocoa. Iím glad I split this bottle, as I wouldnít think Iíd enjoy a full bottle to myself, but as my glass empties, I find myself wishing there was more.
Fantastic beer. Iíd like more, and am definitely interested in the Barrel-Aged version now.

Bottle, pours black, light head, aroma is ginger, taste is lots of ginger up front and finish with a bit of roast stout. this one was drinkable. I feel a better name for this would be ginger stout, i didnt get a lot of flavours other then the ginger of course that would be associated with ginger bread, which was disappointing. I had hope it would taste like a gingerbread cookie

Bottle. Pours cola color with a thin tan head. Aroma doesn't propel much at first but smells like gingerbread cookies eventually. Tastes just as advertised. Gingerbread cookies and lactic sugar. Really tasty. Smooth palate with just a enough carbonation. Very different and enjoyable.

Poured from bottle at private tasting last June. Pours a dark brown with brown head and lace. Big gingerbread aroma with raisins, cinnamon, lavender. Moderate carbonation and mouthfeel. Flavors of brown sugar, cola, ginger, dark chocolate. Overall tasty and bold, a bit funky with some bitterness.

Bottle share at home. Snifter. Pours a black, viscous oil with an off white head. Aroma of ginger, spices, cocoa, bread. Taste was not as impressive as the aroma. Caramel, bread, some ginger, some spice. Roasted malts. Medium body. Not bad but I though it would be better.

Bottle from Chris. Thanks!
A: Placid black with a solid cappuccino head. Good lacing.
N: Tons of ginger, to the point of being sharp. Some cocoa and coffee. Molasses and bready malt.
T: Very powerful ginger, almost sour from it. Lots of chocolate and molasses.
M: Medium bodied, more stout than RIS. Some alcohol.
O: I really like gingerbread, but this just misses because of how potent the ginger is. Still good.

From a bottle, generously shared by JD at beer study. This guy is seriously one of the most generous beer guys I have ever come across. Always sharing his tasty wears and without even drinking any himself. Quite selfless, and it does not go unnoticed. This was pretty on point for what it set out to be. Tastes like a gingerbread cookie, with some light roasted malt and cacao notes in there. A little thinner than I expected, and less boozy for sure. Another impy than I am surprised is an impy. Tastes and drinks more like a regular stout. Still tasty--maybe the best Hardywood I have had so far.

Carbonated. Small head. Coffee and smoke up front with vanilla and sweet mouthfeel finish. Where is the ginger? Sorry.
Still I liked this beer. Sweet stout. Too sweet for session but good after dinner.
