Brewed with baby ginger from Casselmonte Farm and wildflower honey from Bearer Farms, Hardywood Gingerbread Stout captures the terroir of central Virginia in a rich, creamy libation with a velvety mouthfeel and an intriguing evolution of flavors from milk chocolate and vanilla to honeycomb and cinnamon to a snap of ginger in the finish. Deep, dark chocolate in color with a mahogany tint and a frothy, caramel colored head, Hardywood Gingerbread Stout offers aromatics of holiday spice originating from the ginger, and balanced with a generous dose of whole Madagascar bourbon vanilla beans and Vietnamese cinnamon. Milk sugar (lactose) contributes to the full body of this stout and tames its roasty character, while oats lend a silky quality. Enjoy fresh, or cellar for a special occasion. We hope Hardywood Gingerbread Stout contributes to your merriment this season.

Holy crap. This really does taste like gingerbread. The only thing even close to resembling a flaw is that itís a little too sweet.

Pour out of 750 mL bottle, thanks! Dark black pour with caramel colored head, aroma brought notes of caramel, toffee, hints of big ginger, cinnamon, nice cookie like molasses into some lactose, dark chocolate, some earth. Taste is a mix of dark cocoa, roast, some dark chocolate, some hints of earth into nice ginger, cinnamon, clove, nice molasses, finishing sweet, dry.

Bottle 750mL corked and caged. Black pour with a tall, dense tan head. Strong gingerbread notes, caramel, candy, cinnamon, cookies, chocolate, light vanilla and roasted malt notes in the nose. Taste is vanilla, gingerbread cookies, chocolate, caramel, toasted bread, cinnamon and dessert cake. Body is medium-full with a strong bubbly carbonation. Ends with more vanilla, gingerbread cookies, cinnamon, caramel, toasted malt, candy and chocolate notes. Absolutely delicious!

Bottle: Thanks, Chris. Dark brown, very nearly black in body with a nicely foamy, thick khaki cap. Decent retention with some chunky lacing. Lovely aroma of warm ginger spice meshed with doughy, toasted cookie-like malts. Really does smell like a toasted gingerbread cookie. Little bit of cinnamon & mild scorched sugary sweetness on the nose, too, in lesser amounts. Flavor contains notes of gingerbread spice, shortbread, cinnamon, brown sugar, cocoa powder, & just a faint bit of warmth from the alcohol, but it never gets hot. A touch of ash, not sure if itís more of a roasted malt contribution or perhaps even a bit of hoppiness, but it adds a touch of bitterness to balance the sweet, malty base of the beer. Creamy mouth feel, just shy of chewy. Finishes like you just ate one of those cute gingerbread men cookies. Awesome stuff.

Draft at Moriartys. Pitch black pour. Only a slight off-white ring on top. Clean dark sweet caramel malts. Chocolate liquorice. The ginger is clearly present but does not particularly define the beer - certainly more ginger than gingerbread. Some molasses. Good stuff.

Pretty good. The ginger is pretty well tempered and doesnít destroy the stout elements. Pours black with good head and lacing. Not a hell of a lot of roast, that being said. Sweet finish. Tap at Churchkey.

750 ml in to a tulip. 2014 vintage. Pours a nice black with a finger of light tan foam. Nose is a nice combination of chocolate, licorice and ginger. Not much else really, but itís a little sweet and spicy. Taste is a chocolate covered ginger candy. Light spice and honey sweetness. You definitely get the ginger and stout, but itís not exactly like a gingerbread cookie or super complex. It is really damn tasty though.

Pours an opaque deep brown with a healthy off white head which lingers......aroma of nutmeg, ginger.......taste is chocolate, ginger, toasted vanilla, booze, finishing with a deep bitter finish. Quite an interesting Christmas drink.
