Brewed with baby ginger from Casselmonte Farm and wildflower honey from Bearer Farms, Hardywood Gingerbread Stout captures the terroir of central Virginia in a rich, creamy libation with a velvety mouthfeel and an intriguing evolution of flavors from milk chocolate and vanilla to honeycomb and cinnamon to a snap of ginger in the finish. Deep, dark chocolate in color with a mahogany tint and a frothy, caramel colored head, Hardywood Gingerbread Stout offers aromatics of holiday spice originating from the ginger, and balanced with a generous dose of whole Madagascar bourbon vanilla beans and Vietnamese cinnamon. Milk sugar (lactose) contributes to the full body of this stout and tames its roasty character, while oats lend a silky quality. Enjoy fresh, or cellar for a special occasion. We hope Hardywood Gingerbread Stout contributes to your merriment this season.

Bottle thanks to a generous trader. Served in a Hardywood goblet. Pours dark brown. Nose is fairly heavily spiced with ginger, cinnamon, and others. Also notes of chocolate and roast. Flavor is lightly sweet, but is mostly focused on spice. Stout base is in the background. Medium body with quite a bit of spice through the finish. Overall, too much spice for my taste.

Deep brown color with a nice off-white head. The aroma carries a nice gingerbread spice. Flavor is a deep chocolate roasty stout with a strong gingerbread spice...a great Christmas beer. Notes: Denver Rare Beer Tasting ’13

Wine bottle, tulip. Robust tan head from robust pour. Aroma of ginger and brown sugar. Some peppermint. Flavor ginger, bitter cocoa, condensed milk. So so sweet. In the end more ginger medicine than gingerbread cookie. Not for me. Not horrible.

25.4 oz bottle. Dark brown with a creamy balsa head. Nose is toasted coconut morphing into ginger and vanilla with hints of cocoa. As rich as hoped for with a medium to full body and a bright tang. Again I get coconut in the taste but the honey really shines. The ginger adds a nice bite with a touch of molasses and coffee bean ending with bitter cinnamon.

Pours a deep black with some amber notes and a medium bubbly tan lacing head. Aroma of gingerbread dipped in hot chocolate. Flavor of ginger bread cookies covered in dark chocolate. Well done Hardywood!

Poured from growler into stout glass (snifter might be better choice). Pours dark brown with a thin head. Ginger and spices are on the nose as well as a touch of roastiness. Taste is nice with milk chocolate, roasted malt, light ginger, vanilla, and spices. Ginger leaves a light tingle on the finish which really works well.
