Our quest to brew the quintessential coffee beer began over a cupping with the coffee gurus from Richmondís Lamplighter Roasting Company. Their Ethiopia Sidamo coffee was masterfully roasted to highlight the single origin beanís bright, crisp body and distinctive blueberry undertones, making it harmonize beautifully with our Russian Imperial Stout. May this beer warm your spirits in these brisk winter months.

750 ml from Total Wine (Springfield, VA) for 14 bucks. Pours black with a small tan-colored head. Aroma is some coffee with fruit underneath. Taste is some chocolate with coffee on the back end. Body is a bit thinner than I like in an imperial stout, slightly creamy though. Overall a solid imperial stout but not amazing.

This might be one of the best stouts Iíve ever had. Itís absolutely delicious. This is like dessert in a bottle. Itís sweet, rich and decadent. Itís like a piece of devils food cake soaked in fresh roasted coffee. Aroma is chocolate, coffee and roasted malt. Taste is like liquid chocolate cake. Absolute rich sweet milk chocolate, coffee, and a slight vanilla taste. So rich, but not cloying at all. The alcohol is non-existent, and itís dangerously drinkable. I sat on my patio with my wife, drank it slow and loved every second. Awesome stuff, highly recommended. Cheers!

not quite as good as the aged version, but still delicious. Pours very dark brown with an average head that fades fast. The coffee and bitter, roasted malt make the aroma smell great. The flavor doesnít disappoint, and adds some coffee and a little lemon hoppy finish. Very good.

Bottle thanks to Sarah! Pours black with a dark brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma is full of coffee and roasted malts with some sweet dark grains supporting. Flavor has bitter roasted malts and coffee throughout with some dark grains towards the finish.

Big bottle from friend. Served fridge chilled and in chalice. One finger tan head slowly dissipates. Little bit of lacing. Beer is very dark, close to black. moderate aroma of light roasted malts with some notes of chocolate and coffee. Taste is lighty bitter with a tad of sweetness midway. some light coffee and chocolates in the overall malty flavor. Medium bodied. Average carbonation. Good texture but almost "foamy" flavor hinders true flavor. Overall a decent coffee stout, slightly disappointing coming from Hardywood.

Aroma caramel, chocolate, coffee, roasty, alcohol, vanilla, Appearance brown, tan foam, Taste medium sweetness, lightly bitter, Palate medium body, Overall a nice coffee taste but nothing that is wowing me. Still a nice beer that if it was the only coffee stout on the draft list I would suggest this beer to a friend.
