COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our quest to brew the quintessential coffee beer began over a cupping with the coffee gurus from Richmond’s Lamplighter Roasting Company. Their Ethiopia Sidamo coffee was masterfully roasted to highlight the single origin bean’s bright, crisp body and distinctive blueberry undertones, making it harmonize beautifully with our Russian Imperial Stout. May this beer warm your spirits in these brisk winter months.

Growler from the brewery. Pours a dark brown color with a thin frothy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of coffee, green coffee, ash, bitter chocolate, roasted malts. The taste is chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, faint ash, bitter hop finish. Medium bodied, lingering bitterness, the ash-note is a bit offputting, but it’s a decent beer.

750ml, caged and corked bottle. Poured a black color with a smaller sized off white head. Coffee, roast, and some chocolate. Alcohol content well hidden.

JDBaker11058 (1471) - Maryland, USA - MAY 11, 2015
Appearance: dark brown, with lighter brown at the edges; head is fulsome, midway between creamy and frothy, and dark beige. Aroma: dark chocolate, with brightly acidic espresso, and an undercurrent of molasses and some slight earthiness. Taste: bittersweet dark chocolate, dark-roasted coffee beans, a bright acidity (with a hint of possibly-imagined citrus) and a clear undertone of dark fruits (particularly blueberry!) and earth. Finish: lingering dry coffee bitterness and general roast character, with dark fruit and roasted nuts offering some nuance. Notes: Big coffee stout, but booze was very well-hidden. Slightly fruitier than similar beers in the style. Solid. Bottle from Oakton Wine Shop on Chain Bridge Road in Fairfax, Virginia.

Aroma of coffee and malt, pours a dark black with a short lasting small head. Amazing taste of coffee and malt with a syrupy feel and a mildly bitter coffee finish.

Pours jet black with a thin tan head with an aroma of mostly coffee. A big roasty stout covers most of the coffee flavor you are looking for. Finishes creamy with a little hop bitterness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft. Black pour with tan head. Dark roasted and malty aromas. Flavors still lack a bit of coffee from what I was expecting; light roasted and dark malt tones, not bitter or sweet.

Draft at Churchkey. Opaque briwn color, beige head. Aroma of earthy coffee grounds. Taste is coffee, of course, but it retains its beery characteristics. Better body than most coffee beers.
