Perfumy, floral, grassy, and herbal aromas. Fleshy lemonade complexion witha somewhat retaining, white head. Dry, fruity, with notes of golden earth, and some spice. Light bodied with good carbonation, soft, fluffy, and with a dry, fruity finish.

Rated 4/2/13.
750ml bottle into a Duvel tulip.
A: Pours a hazy golden color. The head is a two finger white shade. It doesn’t have the thick-looking richness or great retention I expect from a BPA; otherwise the general look is fine.
S: About what I expected - apple, pear, grape, bread, and noble hops to balance. No single note here is impressive, but it coalesces together admirably.
T: Initial fruity tones of citrus, apple, and grape eventually build to an earthy hop tone. Additional grape flavors linger on the aftertaste pleasantly. It makes up for its modicum of depth with its rock-solid balance and easy drinking nature.
M: The texture is fairly light - a great combination with the crisp, dry nature of the finish. Only thing to really complain about is that carbonation is a touch too high.
O: This one doesn’t impress at first...until you realize that 2/3rds of the bottle was finished in about 10 minutes. The focus on pleasant subtlety over chest-thumping aggressiveness is something I can really appreciate here.

Drat at Mekong. Pours golden with a thick white head which leaves lacing and doesn’t lose effervescence. Has some yeasty notes on the nose. A bit sweet on the tongue but with a nice hop presence on the finish to dry things out and clean things up. Very solid!

Location: Draft at Capital Ale-Innsbrook, 11/21/12
Aroma: , The nose is what you would expect, it has lots of spice Belgian yeast, clove, and fruit
Appearance: This one pours in a glass a cloudy gold color with a white head and medium lace
Flavor: The taste is really nice, right on for what you want from this style with spice/yeast, and sweetness
Palate: The body is medium, it has a nice, creamy feel, an average carbonation, and a good finish
Overall Impression:
I just have to say again, that as a native of Richmond (or as they say now RVA, which still doesn’t sound right to me) I am extremely excited to see a new brewery this good show up in my Hometown. This was a really good example of a Belgian Singel, it is the type of beer that appeals to everyone, and probably one of the best American examples that I can remember trying.

22 oz. bottle from Once Upon A Vine, Richmond, VA. Hazy pale yellow pour with a foamy white head. Aroma of light citrus and bready yeast. The flavor is clean, mostly fruity, with a coriander-like finish. Reminiscent of a Belgian golden ale (think Duvel) only with less alcohol. Nicely done.
