COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
West Coast Style IPA. Bold, resinous and bursting with bright grapefruit aroma, this IPA is a tribute to the decades of hard work by conservationists to restore the James River as a bounty of vibrant aquatic life, eco-friendly recreational activity, and in our case, fresh brewing water. These efforts have culminated recently with the symbolic return of the endangered Atlantic sturgeon, a prehistoric, yet majestic behemoth of a fish, spotted as far up the James River as the fall line in Richmond. Your purchase of this beer supports the James River Association. Thank you for being a part of The Great Return. In our commitment to James River conservation, Hardywood will contribute $10 per barrel of The Great Return to The James River Association, to support their mission to be the guardian of the James River. The JRAís core programs include Watershed Restoration, Education and Outreach, River Advocacy and the Riverkeeper Program.

Can: Floral hop aroma and flavor with a bunch of fresh citrus. Solid example of a West Coast IPA from the east coast.

Can - Very dry taste in the palate. Lots of fruit flavors going on, mostly grapefruit. Bitterness is at the right level for my tastes as well.

Can from Berttttt! Poured into a snifter, bright orange in color with a good head. Smells nice, pineapple, mango, tropical fruits. Taste follows the nose... Lots of tropical fruits, mango, light peach, pineapple with a nice bitter after taste. Nice west coast style. Body is medium, smooth, easy drinker. Overall... very enjoyable ... highly recommend it! Thanks Bert!

Can. Pours a slightly hazy dark gold to orange body with a small frothy white head that faded to a wispy covering. The nose is citrusy, but thereís a heavy caramel malt base thatís throwing off a lot of sweetness, which usually isnít a good thing. The flavor is super bitter, but not especially hoppy to me. Thereís still a heavy sweetness below all those hops, and I donít really care for that all too much in an IPA. Itís not terrible or anything, but itís just not my style. Medium to full bodied, a little heavy and chewy with fizzy carbonation. Meh, not all that.

Very hoppy. Lots of pine and citrus peel. Murky orange. Can. Yummy and worthwhile. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can. Hazy lighter Amber orange. Grapefruit rind, light toasty malt, some caramel sweetness and light pine in the aroma. Flavor is more rounded, with some bitter grapefruit, toasted toffee, some malty sweetness and candy midway through and then a drying bitter pine finish. Medium oily body. Kinda old school, but solid.
