West Coast Style IPA. Bold, resinous and bursting with bright grapefruit aroma, this IPA is a tribute to the decades of hard work by conservationists to restore the James River as a bounty of vibrant aquatic life, eco-friendly recreational activity, and in our case, fresh brewing water. These efforts have culminated recently with the symbolic return of the endangered Atlantic sturgeon, a prehistoric, yet majestic behemoth of a fish, spotted as far up the James River as the fall line in Richmond. Your purchase of this beer supports the James River Association. Thank you for being a part of The Great Return. In our commitment to James River conservation, Hardywood will contribute $10 per barrel of The Great Return to The James River Association, to support their mission to be the guardian of the James River. The JRA’s core programs include Watershed Restoration, Education and Outreach, River Advocacy and the Riverkeeper Program.

Aromas of pine, citrus, some sweet malt. Hazy orange-brown, small lasting off-white head. Mostly dry, some poundcake-like sweetness, nicely bitter. Medium bodied, lingering bitterness.

can, from Brewery, good aroma, sweet. Citrusy. Grapefruit, lemon. some pine, some apricot/mango. very minorly hazed brownish orange color, good head, spotty lace. bitter sweet flavor. Medium body, creamy oily mouthfeel, bitter dry finish. That’s nice, classic west coast ipa, aroma best part IMO, little more going on than the taste, not that the taste is bad, but doesn’t have the range of the aroma. finish kind of tapers off in a dull kind of way, still I’d drink this regularly if it were my local IPA. good stuff

There's a orange amber with a sick find bubbled Panhead aroma of Caramell and citrus along with floral hop notesThe taste is initially sweet but not overly so but it quickly pics of bitterness from the hops as it is continues finishing with a decent blend leaning more towards bitter tasting of orange zest and spice ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Appearance was hazy orangish gold with creamy white diminishing 1 finger head, rings of lacing. Aromas are orange marmalade, sweet soft malts, grapefruit and pine. Taste are grapefruit, orange, lemon blast upfront then sweet malt middle, while a piney snappy finish. Palate was creamy smooth CO2 with medium-full body, fruity and piney lasting finish. Overall an solid west coast, touch to much pine(Simcoe). Thx Myserty Box trade from Nimbleprop.

Can. Orange-amber with a medium, dense, frothy white head. Big resinous hops, pine, citrus and tropical fruit atop toasted malt and caramel. Taste is big pine up front with tropical fruit, citrus oils, hop resins, chewy caramel notes and robust malt backbone. Body is medium-full and slightly chewy with a nice oily feel amongst the dense , bubbly carbonation. Ends with more pine, hop resins, citrus notes, tropical fruit, sweet malt, and caramel. Big West Coast style IPA, and I like it!

Pounder can from Whole Foods. Pours turbid dark straw toward copper with 1-finger off-white head. Nose is hops, tropical citrus, perfumy florals. Tastes very hoppy, crisp, resiny, with notes of pineapple, tangerine, and white pepper. Finishes crisp and bitter, with more fruit as it warms. Really nice stuff.

UPDATED: NOV 3, 2014 Hazy amber with a thin white head. Dry, hints of grapefruit and hoppy bitterness. Punchy but buttery, a bit yeasty, with a rolling finish. I’d like more crisp of a finish, more hops edge.

Really nice one. Grapefruit is prevalent along with bitter grapefruit rind. Moderate resin, decent bass. Malt is light and not sweet. Solid west coast style with good hop body. Not transcendent, but a definite buy when fresh.

On tap at Pinocchio's in Media PA. Nicely done IPA. My first beer from this brewer. Solid but nothing to separate from the masses. I would drink it again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Capone’s. Firkin. Poured a murky golden color with a very small sized head. Citrus, some fruitiness, and caramel.
