Five types of malted barley, including a specially roasted Belgium barley. Centennial and Amarillo hops provide the big hoppy flavor. 12 pounds of Amarillo added after the fermentation for huge hop aroma.

Bomber bought at Super 1 in Post Falls, ID. Pours murky orange-brown, making it look more like a seriously unfiltered Belgian ale than an American IPA. Has a medium collapsing off-white head that leaves a ring and skiff of ugly big-bubbly foam. Aroma isnít all that assertive, but itís lemon citrusy, caramel malt. Taste is a little worty, chalky; lightly bittersweet. Palate is average for style. Not too impressive. I wonder how old this thing is.

On tap at the brew pub. Clear amber pour with a white head. Smooth and creamy. Not really overwhelmingly bitter. Nice malty backbone. Somewhat bland and nondescript hops. Average body and mouthfeel.

Roll this beer if drinking from the bottle, as it was separated. Very dry and bitter on the bottom. Refreshingly did not have grapefruit profile that a lot of big IPAís have nowadays.

Nice IPA. Tastes stronger than its ABV, like a double IPA. Reminds me of Silver City St Florian.

Bottle. Pours a rather hazy amber color with a moderate light tan head on it. Nose is light with some floral elements to it, though the smell is not overwhelming. Taste is bitter and quite dry, though somewhat long lasting on the palate.

Soft orange aroma. Looks fine, bitterness and amarillo are out center stage as they should be, but tamed nicely with a bit of sweetness.

In a word, Classic. This beer was crafted in the spirit of a true "level one" IPA. Not overdone in any category, with care developing its core character. This would be that firm yet gentle push, for the first time IPA drinker. Well done, Harmon!

Bottle brought back from Washington State by one of my friends. Poured a cloudy orange color with a small, wispy white head. Aroma was some light grapefruit notes, sweet caramel notes. Flavor was more earthy, light bitterness, sweet caramel malts.

Drank from bottle poured into tulip. Got from Alaska bottle shop. Aroma - very piny but fresh aroma. Appearance - cloudy dark orange. Thick froth. Taste - good but very bitter. Palate - think burnt mouth feel and bitterness. Overall - pretty good. Not in love.

On tap at Harmon brewpub. Clear amber with no head. Sweet orange aroma. Good malt backbone in the taste with nice citrus and pine, and a big bitter finish. Big smooth body. My first Pacific-Northwest IPA on my Pacific-Northwest trip. Not a disappointment.

November 2011. 22 oz. bottle. Very nice West Coast style IPA with big hoppy aromas. Malty flavors with caramel and floral notes. Nice hoppy finish.
