COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is yet another original flagship brew and of the English persuasion. Our brewer does love his dark beers and decided to brew this slightly unheralded style. Porters, related to stouts, come in two basic styles: Brown and Robust. Robust styles tend to be heavier, stronger and even slightly darker. Brown Porters tend to be more drinkable as a session brew. Our Puget Sound Porter is a lovely dark Brown with strong hints of ruby. A wonderful coffee roasted and chocolate nose makes this Porter unique and enhances the medium bodied brew. The flavors of coffee and chocolate follow through each sip of this porter. 8 different malted barley’s, including Pale Chocolate and dark German barley make up the grist. Two hop additions balance the beer’s flavor. Our brewers 2nd favorite child! GABF Gold in 1999 5.4% ABV and 40 IBUs.

A good Porter, not the best, but definitely one of the top contenders as seen by its many awards.

Dark pour with some ruby highlights. Fairly thin body with light chocolate notes, some cocoa, lightly roasted coffee and grass. A layup of a porter.

650ml bottle pours a dark brown color with 2 fingers of head leaving a thin lacing on the side of the glass. Aroma is roasted malts with some chocolate. Taste is roasted malt bitterness with some chocolately sweetness to balance things out. Medium body and soft carbonation. A pretty decent porter with nicely balanced flavors and recommended to try.

Black, light tan head. Roast on aroma, pretty chocolate forward, some acidic coffee and nuttiness. Has a moderate creamy body with a lot of chocolate and char that stops just short of being too ashy. Lingers chocolatey on the finish with a light caramel sweetness. Very nice robust porter.

1pint 6oz Btl. Pours black with a brown frothy head. Hints of Roast and nuts dominate the nostrils. Palate is live...very live, and the flavor is lightly bitter but refreshing. Overall; impressive... the puget porter is an excellant beer.

Tap at Saffron Grill.

Deep pour, nice roasty flavor with coffee and an enjoyable but not overbearing sweetness. Slightly nutty, well balanced, and quite a bit better than I would have expected.

Bottle. Dark brown color with a light tan head. Nice chocolate, roasty, coffee, pale malt, kelpie aromas. Rich, smooth mouthfeel. Lightly sweet milk chocolate, mocha flavors with dark roast malt, honey biscuit, easy finish--very good porter.

Dark opaque brown color, small steady beige head. Aroma of coffee and some sweetish licorice. Medium-bodied. Smooth palate. Sweetish toasted malty, a bit milky, coffee and dark malts. Chocolate too. Really tasty and balanced porter!

Bottle thanks to Ben! Pours a clear dark brown with a dark gray head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a light roasted note with some creamy chocolate and backing dark grains and bread. Flavor starts with some roasted malts that last throughout with a bit of creamy chocolate lying underneath as well as some light dark bread. Nice and smooth.

22 oz. from Chuck’s. Tastes like the black half of the Tarton. Pretty tasty on its own. I can imagine this taking over for the Black Butte as the common bar porter of choice.
