1.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20 Emericuh (3) - Oak Harbor, Washington, USA - DEC 22, 201222oz bomber. Pours a medium, near cola brown. Carbonation was very light, though I would not consider this a problem, given the crispness. Aroma is piney and faintly spicy.
The primary problem with this beer is that it is dreadfully unbalanced, with the grassy hop flavour completely overwhelming any maltiness or dark fruit one would expect in a winter ale. Mouth feel was clean and light, but taste was akin to bug spray.

Bottle:   Super deep caramel, beige head, frothy, nice lacing.   Strong earthy cocoa notes, a bit shrubby and woodsy, slight biscuit.   Soft biscuit, pine, nuttiness up front, backside is a malty cocoa with a bitter finish.   Seems somewhat smooth up front, becomes slightly rough on the backside.   Seems bright and a little brash.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Piny finish, cocoa and biscuit linger.   Reminds me of an English Strong crossed with an American Strong.   Decent Winter offering.   Just wished we had the snow to go along with this one.

Sampled at EskimoDave’s houseparty. Very strong bitterness in the nose. Highly gritty bitter coffee and chalky vanilla. I actually agree with Jeff from Vancouver Island Brewing that this is good for not being a typical Winter Spiced. The hops and deepness is somewhat like Hopworks Abominable.

Dark brown in color, hazy with a thin tan head. Nice malt and deep rich flavors. Nice hops backing this was a crisp easy drinking winter ale. Some spices come through and make for a nice brew.

Bomber. Appearance is a faded dark brown color with a solid layer of tan foam. In the nose, there’s notes of toasted malt, brown sugar, toffee and citrus. The taste opens up with moderate chocolate, caramel and roasted malt flavors along with some molasses, pine resin and herbal hops characteristics. The body is substantially creamy with medium-level carbonation and a slightly charred, bitter finish. Stylistically, very similar to Jubelale but a tad less balanced.
