Bottle courtesy of SuzyGreenberg. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Smells of chocolate, some sugar, pepper, earthy. Tastes semi sweet with some roasty hints. This is an IS?

On tap at the CBG Exbeerience. Pours translucent black with no head. Full, creamy sweet body, subdued carbonation. Lots going on in the nose and the taste: chocolate, coffee, rum, oak. This beer is a beast.

3/22/08 On tap at the Cask Festival. Aroma is sour with a sweet roasty note of light toast. Appearance is dark brown with a medium tan head. Flavor is chocolate and astringent with a good sweet malt creaminess. Mouthfeel is heavy bodied with a low carb texture . Overall, fairly good and quite rich.

Tried at Strange Brewfest at Water Street Brewing in Port Townsend, WA. Dark black with long lasting head. A little smoky...taste fades quickly.
