We worked with our friends at Equal Exchange to brew this English style Porter. Specialty malts provide caramel and dark chocolate notes and a sweet, smooth body, while coffee beans grown in the Mexican El Triunfo biosphere yield roasted, bittersweet notes that compliment the malty sweetness. The result is a balanced beer that showcases the flavors and aromas of both beer and coffee - a fitting equal exchange.

Bomber----> tulip. Pours cola brown with a small lacey head. Aroma is strong coffee and sweet creamy caramel. Nice bitter black coffee taste with roasty milk chocolate. Nice dry chalky porter palate. Very good representation of the style. Solid but will not blow your mind or anything.

22oz bottle: Pours a barely transparent dark mahogany with a clingy-lacing light beige head. Has a lightly sweet dark caramel malty nose with lots of fresh roasty coffee. Starts with average fullness and light malty sweetness with good coffee flavor and a touch of milk chocolate before a drier bittersweet roasted finish. Pretty true to style and drinkable.

22oz bomber of blah. Poured an okay looking thinner densiry darl black, sort of reminiscent of instant coffee, along with a smaller super light beige slightly creamy head. Aroma of rust and copper dominate along with some old coffee grinds and cold dark toast along with a touch of cream. Body is medium with soda like carbonatin and a quick almost instant fading aftertaste, creamy towards the end. Flavor is actualy worse then the aroma. Notes of burnt cold toast, old coffee beans, a hint of vanilla, earth, cream and some burnt chocolate/coffee. This is not good.

22oz bottle in an English pint. Pours very dark brown with a lacy, light tan head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate and roasted malts, some dough, and floral hops. Flavor the same, with a good amount of coffee. Average to smooth texture. A pretty good coffee porter.

It poured a deep, dark brown yielding the same color body with a large foamy off white head in my nonic. Some nice speckled lacing spider-webbed around the sides of the glass. The smell had the coffee up front with light hints of chocolate and roasted malt. The taste was lightly bitter with the coffee holding its own in the forefront, moderate amounts of chocolate and roasted malts present themselves acceptably and balanced. The palate was about a medium to light, almost a bit watery, but mainly balanced. It was smooth all around and very drinkable. It left a dry aftertaste and finish. Overall, this is definitely a beer for coffee lovers. I would come back to this.
