3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
The aroma is very coffee like with burnt malt, chocolate, and cream. The appearance is brown with a small head. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is soft and smooth. Overall a good coffee porter without the burnt coffee taste.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Location: 22 oz bottle from State Line, 5/1/13
Aroma: The aroma is heavy roasted malts/coffee, some burnt notes, and some mild earth
Appearance: It pours a dark brown color with small beige head and some drippy lace
Flavor: The taste is medium-heavy roasted, some mild sweetness, and a lingering bitterness
Palate: The body is light-medium, it has a tingly feel, and a dry, somewhat off finish
This seemed like as good a beer as any for my first beer of May. Anyway, about this one is just a bit off. The nose and pours gave the impressions of a solid coffee porter, but something odd comes through in the taste and feel that doesn’t work for me at all. Overall, this one was disappointing because I really wanted to like it.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours very dark brown with a lacy, light tan head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate and roasted malts, some dough, and floral hops. Flavor the same, with a good amount of coffee. Average to smooth texture. A good coffee porter.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap. Pours a dark black with an off-white head and lacing. It has a great aroma of spices, coffee, and dark, toasty malt. The flavor is dark malt up front with the coffee quickly taking over and leading to a spicy and slightly malty finish.

4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Perfect coffee aroma challenge is no sugar balance to the coffee This leads taste to a bit sour. Not really and not a bad beer probably best porter and at 6 percent pretty exceptional. Nice lasting head. Not thin for 6 percent nice brew if higher abv would be amazing

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
650 ml bottle courtesy of Ed5388. Thanks. Pours a dark brown color with a medium beige head that has fair retention. The aroma is big and bold with well roasted coffee, espresso and coffee grounds. The taste, like the aroma, is a big blast of coffee with other coffee related flavors such as mocha and espresso very prominent. The palate is a bit thinner than I would prefer and the carbonation is lively. Finishes long with a lingering aftertaste of coffee grounds. Overall: Very tasty stuff--fans of coffee beers will want to try this one.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark brown with a tan head. There’s coffee all over this aroma with some roast and maybe a little cocoa. Tastes basically the same: roast coffee. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Good.

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours a clear dark brown body with a small frothy light brown head that faded to a wispy film. The nose is pretty great, but then again, I’m a huge fan of coffee and generally a sucker for coffee beers. Big rich coffee aroma with some chocolate and lightly roasted malts. Smells delicious. The flavor isn’t nearly as delicious as the aroma though. Still pretty nice, lots of coffee, dry roasted malt, a little astringency, finishes with a little too much burnt flavor though. This gets to be a bit watery in texture after a while as well. Light soft carbonation with a lingering ashy finish. This wasn’t the worst beer, but I think it could have been much better if they could turn down the burnt ashy finish.
