Harpoon Old Rusty’s Red Rye Ale is a cloudy amber ale with particles floating in it. The off-white head exhibits good retention. There is rye in the aroma, along with pine and citrus. It smells slightly sweet. It has a medium, maybe medium-light, body that’s smooth with a crisp finish. It tastes balanced-- slightly sweet with a little grassy bitterness. There is a sharp, almost metallic, flavor at the finish. Not bad.

Tasting @ argo0’s place. Bomber. Clear amber with an off white head. Nose is sweet caramel, lightly toasty. Toasted caramel flavor, rye is very strong. One of the more drinkable of the 100Bbl series.

22oz bottle pours light copper color with alot of carbonation and very clear. Some caramel and a bit of spice in the aroma but I expected more with rye in its name. Big rye in the beginning with nothing to back it up. Flavor fades quickly with the dryness up front. Also a bit thin for 6.5 ABV. But easy to drink. Will try another bottle in the summer. Probably great after mowing the lawn.

22oz. bomber: This one pours a crystal clear amber color. There is a bit of bubbles clinging to the walls of the glass. There was a small off-white head on it that doesn’t linger long. It still leaves a little lacing. Malts, gains and breadiness to the nose. Taste is a touch bitter, with some rye evident. The aftertaste has similarities of commercial lagers. Not bad, but not special either.

On draught at Bodega, thanks to JaBier for sharing. This beer is a reddish-orange color with a thin white head that fizzes away steadily. Thin rings of lacing. Grainy malt and hops in the nose. Medium body with a moderately hoppy character. Some doughy malt flavor and very little rye is evident. The finish is malty with a light bitterness on the back end. Just averaage overall.

On tap at Bodega. Pours a clear light brown, amber with a minimal white head. Sweet and malty aroma with some bread. Hop flavor up front with malt after. Strange flavor almost like lager yeast and a thin finish. Was pretty good until the end.

My bottle (22oz) shared with GregClow, HogTownHarry & garthicus. Pours a slightly hazy, bubbly orange-amber with an average size lasting off-white head. Mild, bready and fruity aroma. Flavour of sweet malt, hops, sweet fruit, a touch of alcohol and some rye shows in the lightly bitter finish. Medium bodied. Not bad, I expected better from a "limited release" but I found it simply average.

A nice drinking ale, reddish in colour. Malty aroma, and the taste- well, complex malty, some bitterness, a bit of rye, no taste overpowering. Nothing too edgy, just nice with lunch, the moderate bitterness comes through in the aftertaste.
