Clear copper with medium head. Caramel sweet aroma followed by a light mix of caramel and bready malts with a solid bitterness. Easy drinking with a hint of fruit and a smooth finish. Enjoyable.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a clear bronze red with an off-white head, head is foamy and has varied bubbles, effervescent, head is good and foamy, bubbles keeps its cover on the beer, aroma of flowery hops when the cap was popped, bread malt, faint grains and malt sweetness, rye aroma is in the background, some caramel in the background, faint alcohol aroma as this warms, flavors of some bread with caramel and some roasted malt flavors, some bitterness on the palate, some alcohol taste and warmth on the tongue as it warms to but this is not to distracting, surprising the alcohol is there considering this brew is 6.5%, I guess the flavor is light enough to allow the alcohol to come through, medium mouth feel, has some creaminess on the palate, medium or more carbonation on the palate, an ok ale, wish this had more flavor, I was hoping for a bigger beer with this special ‘100 Barrel Series’ on the label, also, this is better cold, if it warms up at all, the alcohol gets a little obnoxious.

Draught. Poured a deep amber copper color with little head. Malty sweetness in the aroma, along with some spices and slight estery notes. Sweet rye flavor, as well as some fruit present (citrus, maybe cherry?) before finishing with a hint of bitterness. Very smooth, good beer.

Trying to catch up on my ratings...Nice and spicy with the right touch of rye. Orange-amber pour. A little sweetness mixes well with the slight bitter finish. I have a growing soft spot for rye...

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Courtesy Oakes and Beershine. Pours a reddish amber pour with a small off white head. The aroma shows notes of rye and bready grains, some floral hops, and a sweet caramel malt base. The flavor follow suit with the rye grains, some hops, a touch of cinnamon spices with that sweet caramel malt background. medium bodied with subtle carbonation and very easy drinkability. The rye and bready flavors lend itself well to this one. This was pretty decent, but nothing too crazy going on here.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Very light in color for a red ale. Small grassy aroma. Flavor is thin with a spicy rye aftertaste. I was underwhelmed.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Harpoon Old Rusty’s Red Rye Ale is a cloudy amber ale with particles floating in it. The off-white head exhibits good retention. There is rye in the aroma, along with pine and citrus. It smells slightly sweet. It has a medium, maybe medium-light, body that’s smooth with a crisp finish. It tastes balanced-- slightly sweet with a little grassy bitterness. There is a sharp, almost metallic, flavor at the finish. Not bad.

(Bottle). Mild malty aroma. Reddish orange color with fluffy off-white head. Bready rye flavor, and mildly sweet malt, also spices. Very interesting profile. A pleasant surprise.

Good malt aroma, definite malt in the taste along with the rye I guess. Very interesting and complex. Interesting in a good way
