COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Harpoon 100 Barrel Series Ginger Wheat Ale is an ode to brewer Scott Shirley’s favorite spice, ginger. The earthy, warming flavor of this golden-hued ale is derived from fresh ginger. Honey from a local New Hampshire farm yields a slight sweetness to balance the ginger spiciness. A small addition of Apollo hops adds floral notes to the aroma, while a hint of lemon adds acidity and rounds out the ginger flavor. Warm up your chilly winter nights with this ginger spiced beer.

Yellow with a white head. Aroma is heavy on the ginger with some wheat notes. Flavor is also heavy on the ginger, with a few other assorted herbs and some wheat notes. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy apricot color with a medium sized soapy white head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was wheat, ginger and dryish clove. The flavor was wheat, clove, nutmeg, ginger powder and pepper. Medium length dry ginger powder and nutmeg finish. Medium body. Ok.

This pours hazy and golden with about a finger’s worth of foam and then falls off to some nice lace. It smells like ginger. I love it already. Nose is light malt and light citrus wheat and ginger. As it warms some banana and lemon. It’s pretty subtle. The taste is awesome with a full wheat base against the spicy ginger and the gentle hops. Even had a bit of toasted bread in the finish. It’s creative and not the usual fare. It’s slightly sweet and mouthfeel is soft and pleasant with a bit of citrus to wash it down. No alcohol on the palate it finishes simple and pale. Wheat is a refreshing beer and with the ginger it’s both warming and crisp. Sensational and very original. I paired this with striped bass.

A bit old now so not best condition. Pours orange with little head or lacing. Nose is light ginger and yeast. Aromas same but with touch of honey and a slight grassy hop bitterness. Light body with lively carbonation.

(Rating #4453)

Bottle. Poured clear amber color with an average frothy to large white head that was mostly lasting with fair lacing. Moderate wheat, citrus hop and light ginger aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium spicet & sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where just met.

Pours a very nice golden honey color in the glass. Very fragrant perfume like ginger aroma. Clean toasted malt flavor followed by a spicy ginger aftertaste. Overall, very nice...

Definite ginger aroma, flavor, and finish. I can taste raw ginger w/ notes of licorice; color is golden w/ thin white head around the rim.

Bright yellow color, and I smell ginger, clove, white bread. I taste ginger, yeast, orange, and a bitterness of hops in the finish. Almost like a beer ginger ale, decent beer.....
