COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Harpoon 100 Barrel Series Ginger Wheat Ale is an ode to brewer Scott Shirley’s favorite spice, ginger. The earthy, warming flavor of this golden-hued ale is derived from fresh ginger. Honey from a local New Hampshire farm yields a slight sweetness to balance the ginger spiciness. A small addition of Apollo hops adds floral notes to the aroma, while a hint of lemon adds acidity and rounds out the ginger flavor. Warm up your chilly winter nights with this ginger spiced beer.

Clear golden pour. Very fresh ginger aroma. Intense, ginger dominates. Some floral notes. Bitter wheaty flavor with ginger. Not as overpowering as in the aroma. Nice and balanced with a little sweetness.

Thanks to HogTownHarry for sharing this. Appearance: Slightly cloudy orange, clean white head. Aroma: Like a ginger chew, somewhat soapy, Harry mentioned a urinal cake and I can’t disagree, very sweet ginger. Flavour: Caramel, ginger, very zingy, quite a soapy finish, weird but good.

Bottle [22oz] shared with HogTownHarry, garthicus, GregClow, jerc & mabel -- c/o HogTownHarry. Pours a slightly hazy gold with an average size diminishing off-white head. Aroma of ginger (yay, I love ginger!) and soap (boo!) -- so what could’ve been great is only O.K. Flavour of ginger and some grain -- I like it. Average bodied. Pretty good overall.

Pours a hazy gold with a delicate medium white head. Aroma is dominated by ginger and honey. Floral, wheat and a little citrus(lemon) also come through. Taste is sweet with a somewhat dry finish with the tartness of citrus coming through on the end. The ginger and honey come through strongly on the taste. I enjoyed this beer as it was very refreshing and went down easy. May be a little much for a session beer with the complexity.

[2778-20100219] Bottle. Ginger hand soap aroma is quite pungent and hints a little at urinal puck. Slightly hazy, light orange brown body with a quick foamy white head. Ginger urinal cake continues in the flavour and stays very floral. Medium body. Odd floral, very odd.

Very nice indeed for a cold winter night. Pours a light hazy amber with a big fluffy head. Aroma is ginger snap and lemon. Flavor is similar with a bit of pepper in the back of the throat. Sounds strange but the lemon and ginger work well with the honey to create a very unusual but pleasant beer.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Chevy Chase, 3/9/10

Aroma: Aroma is overpoweringly ginger, with some other spices and some lemon
Appearance: Pours a clear golden-orange color with a thin, fizzy white head
Flavor: Flavor is rather sweet, lots of ginger and some lemongrass
Palate: This one is fairly light, with a tingly mouthfeel, and a fizzy carbonation
Overall Impression: This one is fairly one-dimensional, most likely intentionally so. It’s pretty flavorful for what it is, tons of ginger and quite sweet. Maybe a little too sweet for my taste, and I can’t imagine drinking this one if you dislike ginger. It left me wanting some variety of Asian food...

**Just submitted a photo for this one as well, as it was missing one.

Mild ginger aroma. Hazy golden color with a small white head. Good amount of ginger flavor with hints of bitter and sweet throughout.

Pours a transparent effervescent golden with a thin ring of wispy white head. Aroma of sweet ginger and light caramel with a touch of bananas. Starts with decent fullness and light caramel and candied ginger sweetness with a touch of doughy yeast before a drier, smooth finish. A pretty decent brew.

2010-02-19. Lightly hazy golden yellow, small white head. Sweetish ginger aroma. Flavour is similar, pleasant ginger throughout, very light bitterness. Simple but pleasantly quaffable. Average palate. Bottle shared by someone I forgot to write down.
