The Harpoon 100 Barrel Series Ginger Wheat Ale is an ode to brewer Scott Shirley’s favorite spice, ginger. The earthy, warming flavor of this golden-hued ale is derived from fresh ginger. Honey from a local New Hampshire farm yields a slight sweetness to balance the ginger spiciness. A small addition of Apollo hops adds floral notes to the aroma, while a hint of lemon adds acidity and rounds out the ginger flavor. Warm up your chilly winter nights with this ginger spiced beer.

22o bottle, thanks nimbleprop. Small white head atop clear apple juice body. Aroma is medium sweet, ginger, allspice, some lemon/orange. Taste is medium sweet, ginger. Fairly dry finish. Light-medium body, alcohol hardly noticeable. Definitely does what it sets out to do -- ginger beer.

Bottle. Poured clear amber color with an average frothy to large white head that was mostly lasting with fair lacing. Moderate wheat, citrus hop and light ginger aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium spicet & sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where just met.

22 ounce bottle courtesy of Butters. Thanks! Sampled at the 11th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering, 4/17/10. Pours a lemon yellow color with a a very light haziness. Medium head with good head retention and lacing. Aroma of ginger, citrus, kitchen cleaner and bread. The taste is candied ginger and citrus with just a faint medicinal quality. Medium bodied. Not too great.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Ido’s place. Thanks Dagan. Clear golden. Aroma of ginger and sweet spices. Sweet flavor with some fruitiness, honey notes and some ginger. Finishes dry and spicy. Medium-bodied. So-so.

2010-02-19. Lightly hazy golden yellow, small white head. Sweetish ginger aroma. Flavour is similar, pleasant ginger throughout, very light bitterness. Simple but pleasantly quaffable. Average palate. Bottle shared by someone I forgot to write down.

On tap at the newly reopened Crew (well, it reopened a while back…need to get that updated). Pours a hazy gold with a thin to medium sized white head. Loaded with ginger, crisp and clean. Smells a bit like good ginger ale. Lightly sweet, medium bodied, little ginger. Finishes with a touch of wheat, sweet and crisp. Reminds me a bit of a shandy, but not too sweet.

[2778-20100219] Bottle. Ginger hand soap aroma is quite pungent and hints a little at urinal puck. Slightly hazy, light orange brown body with a quick foamy white head. Ginger urinal cake continues in the flavour and stays very floral. Medium body. Odd floral, very odd.

Bottle. Pours gold with a white head. Lemony ginger aroma with some honey sweetness. The flavor has fresh sharp ginger, lemon, and a light sweetness. I’m not usually too keen on ginger flavored beers but this one hit me the right way for some reason. Very refreshing.
