COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Harpoon 100 Barrel Series Ginger Wheat Ale is an ode to brewer Scott Shirley’s favorite spice, ginger. The earthy, warming flavor of this golden-hued ale is derived from fresh ginger. Honey from a local New Hampshire farm yields a slight sweetness to balance the ginger spiciness. A small addition of Apollo hops adds floral notes to the aroma, while a hint of lemon adds acidity and rounds out the ginger flavor. Warm up your chilly winter nights with this ginger spiced beer.

(Sample Date: 4/12/2010 Source:Butters) Ginger aroma with a light graininess. Clear golden with small head. Spicy ginger flavor with some spruce or juniper berry notes. Quite peppery. Finish medium but dries quickly with a lot of peppery spiciness. Tasty.

Picked this up at Harpoon Brewery in Windsor. Enjoyed at fridge temp in a wine goblet.

A - Slightly darker than straw color. Small head that fades fast.

S - Big ginger scent on the nose and lemon citrus. Barely any discernable wheat scent. Smells like flat ginger-ale. Sort of nice.

T - Spicy and intense ginger at the start. This is followed by a spruce tip or maple syrup sweetness. Followed by a very floral / wheaty citrus taste. Pretty pleasant.

M - 50% carbonation on the mouth swish. Light body. Slight piney finish but mostly ginger.

O - Delicious but the ginger wears on you with this bomber format.

22 oz bottle. Pours orange/gold with a 1/2" off white head. Aroma is heavy on the ginger. Flavor is also mostly ginger with a bit of wheat and malt. Moderate bodied. Ok, but to heavy on the ginger.

Bottle sample at a tasting at idonis’ place. Thanks Dagan. Clear golden with a wave of white film. Smells of ginger, candy and alcohol, tastes ginger, alcoholic, sweet but delicate. Sleek medium body.

22 oz. bottle. Pours a slightly hazy old gold color with a thick off-white head. LOADS of ginger in the crisp, wheaty, floral aroma. Plenty of honey in there too. A crisp, thin body. The flavor starts with some sweet cereal grains and honey and transitions to a wheaty finish with a touch of lemon. There is a VERY strong, spicy ginger quality throughout that tends to overshadow everything. Definitely unique.

Fantastic! I love ginger - the spice is subtle and the beer is surprisingly refreshing, not sticky, not sweet. They hit a home run with this one.

Pours clear golden-orange with a bubbly white head. Ginger and wheat aroma. Taste is freshly-grated ginger over malty wheat and lemon zest. Nice balance of flavors.

Pours a very nice golden honey color in the glass. Very fragrant perfume like ginger aroma. Clean toasted malt flavor followed by a spicy ginger aftertaste. Overall, very nice...

A bit old now so not best condition. Pours orange with little head or lacing. Nose is light ginger and yeast. Aromas same but with touch of honey and a slight grassy hop bitterness. Light body with lively carbonation.

On tap at Whole Foods, pours a pale ginger color. Light , alcohol well hidden but finishes on a sweet ginger note.
