My brother was kind enough to give me a bottle of Harpoon Ginger Wheat. Based on past ginger beers I’ve had this bottle went to the cellar. Finally got around to drinking it and I must say it was a well made beer. Sweet aroma, lemon zest, ginger slight twang, golden body and brief pillow case head. Not sure how old the bomber of Ginger Wheat was I consumed however it settled into a drinkable spiced wheat beer.

Pours a transparent effervescent golden with a thin ring of wispy white head. Aroma of sweet ginger and light caramel with a touch of bananas. Starts with decent fullness and light caramel and candied ginger sweetness with a touch of doughy yeast before a drier, smooth finish. A pretty decent brew.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 OldGrowth (2108) - North Carolina, USA - DEC 21, 2009
tap at the Harpoon bar in Terminal A Logan Airport, in the remote part of Term A. Good aroma, Ginger, honey, spice, citrus, but mainly Ginger. Clean yellowy, brownish orange color, Small head, no lace. Sweet bitter flavor, no as strong as aroma, but all the same characteristics, Lite bosy, smooth mouthfeel, sweet finish. Tasty I must say, while I guess the ginger is in the holiday spirit, this would be a decent summer brew in my opinion.

Bottle. Poured clear amber color with an average frothy to large white head that was mostly lasting with fair lacing. Moderate wheat, citrus hop and light ginger aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium spicet & sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where just met.

Bottle [22oz] shared with HogTownHarry, garthicus, GregClow, jerc & mabel -- c/o HogTownHarry. Pours a slightly hazy gold with an average size diminishing off-white head. Aroma of ginger (yay, I love ginger!) and soap (boo!) -- so what could’ve been great is only O.K. Flavour of ginger and some grain -- I like it. Average bodied. Pretty good overall.

The aroma is a bit funky but has a bit of ginger and honey. The appearance is golden with a thin head. The taste is like aroma with a malty finish. The palate is smooth. Overall it’s good but muted I seem to have a thing for ginger.

On tap at the Harpoon Bar - Logan Airport - Boston, MA. Aroma is a cold salted wet slightly spicy cookie. Pours a rather glazed, uneven tawny amber, with minimal head. Flavor is soft, subtle and unassuming. There’s really just a hint of ginger, a hint of wheat, a good bit of house character and a final flourish of booze. This comes across as incredibly mild. One of the lighter spiced beers. It really feels like a "starter" or "crossover" beer, nothing a true craft beer geek would get excited about, which is odd, considering that this is a 100 Barrel series.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 glennmastrange (1888) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - SEP 22, 2012
Bottle. Light to moderate hay, flowers and perfume for the malt and hops, light soap for the yeast, with notes of honey, ginger and lemon peel. Head is small, fizzy, white with no lacing and is mostly diminishing. Coloris sparkling clear light amber. Falvor starts moderately acidic and the long finish is lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is on the lighter side of medium, watery with a lively carbonation. All of the adjuncts in this beer stand out nicely in the finish.
