2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 jgb9348 (3963) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - APR 14, 2013
Nice slightly chunky amber and copper coloured body with a very thin, off-white head and a ruby and peach tint. Aroma of apricots, apples, pears, metal, malt and a bit of rubbing alcohol. Light-bodied; Sharp metallic note up front with a very thin malt note, some lighter sugars and a definite earthiness. Aftertaste shows more of the same with only a hint of light grassy hops the only thing different than the metallic malt and the thin alcohol flavour. Overall, not such a great beer at all, and I’m not sure what people liked about this one, but I’m not a fan at all and would recommend others to not buy this one at all. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Ramsey Liqours in Ramsey, New Jersey on 22-February-2013 for US$4.59 sampled at home in Washington on 14-April-2013.

Bottle. Pours clear amber with a medium off-white creamy head that laces well. Aroma is caramel, malt, spice. Taste is quite sweet with caramel, notes of chocolate, a mild anise note coming in late. Mildly bitter finish. Quite complex for its ABV, and a nice brew.

Originally reviewed: 10/11/10. 22oz bottle picked up at a grocery in Charlotte when I was in town a couple weeks ago. Poured into a pilsner glass. Pours a clear amber brown color with a thick 3-finger off-white head on top. Decent retention; left some sticky lace behind. Scents of caramelized malts, toasted grains, and sweet coffee. Nice.
Good crisp clean feel. Refreshingly wet. But a bit heavy for the style on the finish. Slightly filling. Great flavors of toffee, fresh dark bread, balanced out with a mild hop bitterness. Slight spice noted, but it’s tame and in the background. I liked this beer a lot! Great drinkability. 22oz was not a match for me. I want more.

Pours a dark amber/copper color with dark golden orange edges and a frothy two finger white head that slowly settles into a lasting ring. Chinks of soapy lacing left behind.
Sweet, slightly earthy aroma with hints of earthy grass and floral hops countered by sweet malt noted and some light fruit. Also some biscuit/bread character.
Fuller bodied than expected with a nice balance of delicate floral hops and sweet malt. Faintly toasted with hints of bread, biscuit, caramel and toffee. Floral hops add subtle spice but very little bitterness. Hints of apricot add to caramel malt sweetness. Well balanced decent session beer.
