Our Oak Aged Dunkel is brewed using traditional German ingredients and aged on American Oak. The brew itself is highlighted by Munich malt, Tettnang hops, and German Ale yeast, resulting in a clean, earthy flavor. After primary fermentation is complete, we transfer the beer to a secondary aging vessel containing oak infusion spirals. These oak spirals contribute subtle, woody sweetness and vanilla notes. The wood complements the malt character and adds a layer of complexity to the delicate, herbal hops. The result is a pleasing, drinkable autumn beer. The best place to enjoy this beer is during the winter, next to a roaring fire, along with a bratwurst. This beer was brewed by Gabe Allen-Fahlander, Harpoon brewer BEER SPECIFICATIONS Style: Oak Aged Dunkel Original Gravity: 15.2 Alcohol by Volume: (ABV) 5.7% IBU’S: 30 Color (EBC): 74

Bottle. Pours reddish brown. Light tan head. Nose of bready malts, spice and brown sugar. Taste of lots of bready malts, light chocolate, brown sugar, Christmas spices and a good kick of initial cinnamon. Not much barrel character, which is probably a good thing for the style. Sessionable.

Bomber from ericandersnavy. Session 34. Pours dark ruddy copper with a foamy 3 finger light tan head. Aroma is something like woody/oaky dark fruit. Med body. Flavor is not-so-dark fruit with oak astringency. IBU 30 is not expected to be bitter, but the oak is pushing it - sort of like wind chill factor. So this is a moderately sweet, moderately malty tasting, beer that ends up in a mouth all curled up. Some noble hop character just adds to the effect. If you like a bitter, or imitation of bitter?, beer this should be good for you.

22oz bottle-pours a big retaining foamy light tan head with red/copper color. Aroma is sweet medium malt-caramel/cocoa, wood, vegetal, some earthy/spice. Taste is sweet medium malt-caramel/cocoa/licorice, wood, 2nd spice hops. Soft carbonation. If aroma didn’t have some detraction, it would have started out on a much better foot which impacted overall too.
