COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is brewed with our proprietary yeast Ė the same yeast weíve used since first brewing Harpoon Ale Ė and some interesting hop varieties. The combination of Pale, Rye, Caramel 60, Flaked Rye, and Vienna yield a complex malt body that stands up to the spiciness of the rye and the pronounced hop flavor. The rye also adds a reddish hue to the beer. The kettle additions of Centennial, Apollo, and Chinook, and the dry hop addition of Falconerís Flight add a multidimensional hop character.

Moderate head that leaves very good ring lace after each sip. The liquid is neutral amber with a very light haze. Dry and earthy aroma. Good hop as I pull my nose away. Okay, this is strange, the first flavor I note is...pate. Itís a meaty taste with a note of oysters. The hop takes over in the swallow without much more than a bittering effect. The body is as expected and the carbonation is mildly elevated.

A solid rye IPA. Orange amber with thin white head. OK nose--mostly hops, hints of rye. Clean drinking, bitter hops with moderate rye spiciness. A little chewy on the palate, which is nice. Nothing exceptional, but overall pretty good. Just would want a little malt backbone or more resiny hops, ideally.

At the Windsor brewery. A play off of the long-time flagship of their IPA with the addition of Rye into the mix. Another of my "gotos" when at Harpoon for an event... love that rye spiciness.

@ Party Town / Florence KY Clear dark orange with a 1" rocky off-white head, wide bands of lace. Taste is caramel malt with an overtone of dry rye that grows substantially through the palate, adding burnt toast and a bit of spice before finishing with light bittering. The only weakness would be a lack of balance in the finish - too much spice and rye, not enough bittering. I know there are dry and wet hop additions, but they donít match the grains.

Amber brown poured from a tap. Smooth taste with a little bit of citrus flavor. Another good harpoon ipa

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 1/15/2014. Pours lightly hazy orange amber color with a 2 finger dense cream colored head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, orange zest/rind, floral, grass, pine, rye, toast, caramel, and floral earthiness. Very nice aromas with good complexity of hop notes and moderate malt balance; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, orange zest, floral, grass, light pine, caramel, rye, toast, and floral earthiness. Fair amount of pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peace, floral, grass, caramel, toast, rye, and floral earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity of hop flavors with prominent malt backbone; with fairly crisp malt/bitterness balance and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a moderately creamy, and fairly crisp/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice rye IPA. All around good complexity and balance of juicy hop and moderate malt flavors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

On draught at Diegoís in Newport, RI. Arrived to the table a hazy amber with a thin linen white head that lasted through the first two sips and laced the glass well. Pleasant aroma of pine with a few spicy notes of rye. The flavor is malt with a bit of rye spiciness to it followed by some moderate pine hops bitterness. Mild dryness at the finish. Medium bodied. Solid.

Bottle from ABC on Apalachee. Copper pour with thin dirty white head. Aroma is sweet malt and cereal. Tastes are orange, pine, pepper and toffee. Light bitter finish. Yeah, pretty decent.
