This beer is brewed with our proprietary yeast Ė the same yeast weíve used since first brewing Harpoon Ale Ė and some interesting hop varieties. The combination of Pale, Rye, Caramel 60, Flaked Rye, and Vienna yield a complex malt body that stands up to the spiciness of the rye and the pronounced hop flavor. The rye also adds a reddish hue to the beer. The kettle additions of Centennial, Apollo, and Chinook, and the dry hop addition of Falconerís Flight add a multidimensional hop character.

Nothing special here. Lots of better Rye IPAís out there. Two Brothers Cane and Abel as well as Founders Red Rye P.A. are far superior. Itís bitter without a great flavor profile to back it up. Seems out of balance. Smells like a bitter IPA with some caramel thrown in. The rye is underwhelming. Pours a off orange with a medium white head. Some lacing. Got more bitter with each sip and as it warmed without releasing any complex flavors like Iíve experienced in other Rye IPAís. It came in a variety pack, so at least I wasnít saddled with more than two of them.

EBD 11/15/14. Pours a clear medium amber with a slight hint of garnet. World class head volume, lacing and retention. Outstanding nose of pine, citrus and spicy rye over a biscuit and caramel base. Medium body with a slick texture. Slightly above normal carbonation with a bit of effervescence in the middle and a strong burst in the finish. The flavor profile is intense, moderately complex and well balanced. It begins with a bready rye note that is a bit spicy. The middle brings a mild bitterness that has a bit of rind and pine flavor. As the bitterness fades, a rich malt sweetness comes to the forefront coupled with mango notes from the hops. The finish is a slow fade of rind, caramel and a nice rye bite.

Pours from 12 oz bottle a light clear copper-amber color with a finger of frothy white, craggley head. Aroma of some light prickly rye, some malt, some tropical fruits, floral & grassy hops, and some sweet tones. Flavour of bready pale malts, fruity and floral hops, with a spicy rye in the finish. Enjoyable beer !
