COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is brewed with our proprietary yeast – the same yeast we’ve used since first brewing Harpoon Ale – and some interesting hop varieties. The combination of Pale, Rye, Caramel 60, Flaked Rye, and Vienna yield a complex malt body that stands up to the spiciness of the rye and the pronounced hop flavor. The rye also adds a reddish hue to the beer. The kettle additions of Centennial, Apollo, and Chinook, and the dry hop addition of Falconer’s Flight add a multidimensional hop character.

Huge hop aroma came billowing from the bottle upon cracking it open. Beautiful orange color with 2 finger head and lacing. Fantastic rye spicy taste along with the floral/citrus hops. A bit bitey, but amazing. It shocked me just how great this beer is.

I’m really liking the rye beers I’ve had so far. This is my kind of beer. Great hoppy bite with that distinct rye spiciness. Should’ve bought more than one :)

A great rye beer. Reddish golden appearance. Sharp hop and rye aroma. A bit of pepper and citrus.

I have had this brew in a 12 oz. bottle and on draft it is currently on of my favorite brews. Great beer if you like a spicy hoppy ipa.

My amazing girlfriend picked up the first bottle being put on the shelves at Harpoon Brewery in Vermont. I had this before when it was the 100 Barrel Series. It was so popular, they made it into a 375ml bottle and started selling it beyond the specialty beer shops. Taken out of my fridge and poured into a Newcastle glass. Best by 7/15/12

A - Poured a 3-finger off-white head with a creamy appearance. The head subsided to a quarter finger pretty fast. The beer is a light golden brown with tons of very hazy / cloudy bits floating around. It looks like a solid dry hopped beer.

S - Yep, great hops right on the nose creating that classic pine and grapefruit scent with bits of orange peel. I’m getting very sweet hops and I’d like to say Centennial hops but I’m not quite sure. Very very fresh.

T - There’s a nice solid mix of rye and hops. The rye starts to dominate but the astringent hop profiles blast away at full force and cover the tongue with delightful bitterness. The rye finishes out the taste as you swallow. Very very good. There’s some roasted malts in this and a bit of nuttiness.

M - 80% bubbles on a single mouth swish that unleashes the great rye taste. Very very drinkable, medium-bodied and delicious rye taste that sticks around after swallowing. I’m a fan!

O - Yeah, I have to buy more of this. Delicious, drinkable and very nice as the weather starts warming up.

From bottle; Poured a copper color with a grassy and spice aroma. Starts as an IPA but ends with a touch of rye.

Beer pours dark honey color with a big, totally retained off white head. Aroma is predominately hoppy with big citrus and floral notes. Yum. The rye is buried under the hop aroma but is there somewhere. Flavor is pretty straightforwardly bitter with just a touch of rye sweetness. I am a sucker for rye IPAs and I really like this one!!!

16 oz. draft at Devil’s Den in south Philadelphia. Delicious aroma, bright golden appearance and head; nicely bitter hope profile with the added complexity of the rye. Not sure what the "barrel" component of this beer is, but it is by far the best thing I’ve ever had from Harpoon.

Bottle in NYC sept 2012. Amber, maybe a bit hazy beer with a small offwhite head. Malty and sppicy aroma and similar flavour with ryetaste and sweetness. Lovley :-)

Orange color with white head. Aroma contains pine, orange, grapefruit, rye. Flavor is bitter with orange peel and grapefruit. Decent malt backbone. Overall nothing like Harpoon IPA.
