2.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 6/20
Color was a wonderful red hue. Aroma is a mix of spruce and caramel malt. Taste is initially slightly sweet caramel malt, followed up by spruce and herbal hoppiness. Decently bitter.. the first few sips I enjoyed the novelty but it wore off: I ended up pouring out the last third (which was more because we had more beers to taste and time was short, rather than a bad beer.) I wouldnít buy again, unless the mood was right: (think Christmas tree decorating day and a foot of snow outside).

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Total Wine. Pours reddish amber with minimal off-white head. Aroma of biscuit and subtle herbal notes. Flavors include more biscuit, highly metallic hops and chewy, bready malts. Medium carbonation and medium body. Not as complex as I anticipated.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 oz bottle. Pours clear amber with reddish highlights. A gentle pour netted a one finger creamy off white head which receded slowly leaving only marginal lace. Aroma is pine resin and caramel malt with a touch of spruce. Flavor is caramel malt and biscuit with a light hop presence. Also, a light taste of the spruce tips. Hops and spruce tips could have been a bit stronger. Average palate with a dry finish. Spruce tips make themselves known in the aftertaste.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Amber in color, with a white head that quickly dissapates. No lacing on the glass. Aroma of carmel, malts and a slight scent of pine. Taste is rather ho hum, bread and malt being at the front with some spice towards the back. OK beer. Probably would not purchase again.

Finally after much anticipation I found a bottle of the Vermont Spruce Tip. Poured amber with small white head. Caramel malt aroma with some fruity notes. Sweet caramel malt flavor with some yeast flavors. Didnít really get any spruce flavors.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
"Acquired this at Harpoon Brewery where I stop by every 2 months to pick up whatever is new along with a Growler full of their Raspberry Wheat beer.
Poured into a Harpoon 100 Barrel Series Glass at 39 degrees.
A - Very bronze beer super clear but still very bronze. No sediment. Poured a 7 finger head but that was probably cause I was being careless.
S - Nice piney smell with spruce and other syrups that we all have available in new England. Sweet and like morning due. I love these 100 barrel beers.
T - Just as the label suggests. Spruce tips but Iím getting some brown sugar and lovely caramel noted. Maybe some vanilla or lavender? Not sure
M - Medium beer yet a light mouthfeel and finish. A lot of bite from bitterness at the finish.
O - Itís not a bad beer but the bar was set pretty high with this series. Iíve had the last 15 of 39 barrels put out by Harpoon and each one is really special. This one just tastes bland and normal. Itís not a down the drain beer but itís certainly a hard beer to warm up to."
