3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Appearance: polished deep copper under a fluffy copper-hued head which lingers big and sticky. Garnet along the edges. Has the appearance of being polished to perfection.
Nose: whole fleshy red apples with mint leaf and greenery in the back. Chamomile. Spruce tips and fern leaves. Grape nuts and sweet crunchy cereal grains. Pear orchards hanging heavy and ready to drop.
Palate: sweet breads and apples and mint leaf along the sides. Chamomile and spruce in the breath. Soft chewy bready mouthfeel and weight. Pears and apples mingle harmoniously – in the middle leading into the finish. Spruce is subtle – gives it the essence of standing amidst a dew-dropped forest.
Final Thoughts: the more I taste their wide variety of beers the more I love Harpoon. From session to one-offs to big and bad ass to cellar worthy, Harpoon always leaves me happy.

4.2 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Very sweet and malty flavor. Hops are very much overpowered by malt. This is a delicious beer to accompany desserts or to top off a few intense beers

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Beautifully clear, deep amber color. Decent head that settles to a thin layer of bubbles. Leaves good ring lace.
Smells like a Scotch Ale with a very light pine touch--mostly light crystal malt. Relatively neutral.
This is a complex beer. It is sweet, yet dry (in the swallow). The evergreen comes through, but Ina subtle way. There’s enough hop to provide bitterness, but is otherwise nondescript. Full bodied with a decent dose of carbonation.

i was actually expecting more of a resiny pine note here, but this is basically like a blond belgian ale with a watery finish, with a mild spice note in there. blah.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Moderate malt aromas of roasted, nutty and caramel, light pine and citrus for the hops, with wood and a hint of brown sugar. Head is small, fizzy, off-white with some slippery lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is sparkling clear copper. Flavor starts faintly sweet and moderately acidic, then the long finish is moderately acidic and bitter with a touch of saltiness. Palate is on the lighter side of medium, watery with a lively carbonation and a lightly astringent finish. This is a very good drinking beer with the added touch of spruce tips. Could’ve used more I’d say.
