They are not lying about the coffee in this one. Looks like coffee with a tan head. Big coffee aroma and taste, along with some chocolate. Nice bittersweet balance.

Appearance: A medium-small, tan head sits atop a black body. Near nil lacing.
Smell: Features a sublime scent of whole roasted coffee beans. Many stouts and porters can give off a roasty, coffee-esque scent, itís true. Even many coffee-infused beers donít seem particularly emboldened beyond the base malts. In this, however, the added ingredient is undoubted. Also, quality chocolate, caramel, vanilla, and a faint, faint fruitiness.
Taste: Thereís a great bittersweet coffee bean flavor upfront accented by roasted malts, chocolate, caramel and burnt sugars. Very light touch of licorice. Low dark fruitiness. Bitterness from the hops, but also some imparted by the roasted malt and coffee beans. Plenty of coffee flavor on the finish and in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Smooth, yet also a bit crisp.
Overall: A tantalizing and energizing beer. Iíve had a few coffee-based beers lately and this has been the best of the bunch.

Bomber: Pours a clear ruby with a medium off-white head, big chocolate aroma, starts and ends lightly sweet with a coca ending, medium bodied with ample carbonation.

UPDATED: DEC 23, 2012 Poured thinner than expected with a small light brown head that diminished into nothing. Dark brown body. Decent coffe aroma and taste, left with a burnt coffee bitterness, not necessarily the pleasant kind. Weaker than expected mouthfeel with a bit of fizzy carbonation.

A great coffee and hints of bitter roast malt aroma. A mixture of some milkiness and some rough carbonation. That roughness detracts slightly from itís drinkability. The flavour is really spot on though it is a touch too bitter.

Draft at lucky lab. Pours black with red edges and a small off white head. The aroma Is big chocolate, some expresso, roasted. The taste is medium bitter coffee and lightly sweet mocha on the finish. Decent but not the top of the style.

another offering from the 100 barrel series. brownish head on a black beer. Aroma is just like an chocolate covered espresso bean. rich malty and more sweet than bitter but with a milky coffee finish. Could use with a fuller body but still great balance of brews.

Bottle shared with Jim and Mitch. Pours a clear black to brown, with some copper highlights and a huge thick tan head that deflates quickly and steadily. Big coffee on the noes, lots of roast. Somewhat thin in terms of body, coffee with cream. Tasty enough, but the lack of body kills this.

Bottle from Samís in Durham. Dark brown with light around the edges. Small head, but I kept coaxing it. Roasty coffee aromas last for a few minutes, then milk chocolate... but then aromas of dirt and even manure creep in. Taste is sweet, earthy, and thin. How hard is it to make at least a decent coffee porter?
