COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We worked with our friends at Equal Exchange to brew this English style Porter. Specialty malts provide caramel and dark chocolate notes and a sweet, smooth body, while coffee beans grown in the Mexican El Triunfo biosphere yield roasted, bittersweet notes that compliment the malty sweetness. The result is a balanced beer that showcases the flavors and aromas of both beer and coffee - a fitting equal exchange.

Bottle. Poured clear dark brown color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate roasted dark coffee aroma. Medium to full body with a thick smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy roasted dark coffee flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Good complex brew.

22oz bottle: Pours a barely transparent dark mahogany with a clingy-lacing light beige head. Has a lightly sweet dark caramel malty nose with lots of fresh roasty coffee. Starts with average fullness and light malty sweetness with good coffee flavor and a touch of milk chocolate before a drier bittersweet roasted finish. Pretty true to style and drinkable.

Bottle shared with Jim and Mitch. Pours a clear black to brown, with some copper highlights and a huge thick tan head that deflates quickly and steadily. Big coffee on the noes, lots of roast. Somewhat thin in terms of body, coffee with cream. Tasty enough, but the lack of body kills this.

22oz bottle, shared by tmoney99. Best by 3/15/13. Very nice roasty Turkish coffee nose. Clear dark brown color. Minimal tan head. Few dots of lace Medium to lighter body. Dry texture. Lighter carbonation. Taste is a bit of a let down from the aroma. Kind of feels a little watered down. Little bitter taste, but lacking even on that. Some macro-blandness, in the flavor, even. Impressive nose, but everything else about this is a bit of a let-down for me.

Draft. Pours near black with a beige head. Big fresh coffee, espresso, roasted malts, vanilla, milk chocolate, and a nice lingering bitter coffee finish. Wake up muthafucka!
