ClarkVV (3545), Allston, Massachusetts, USA Nov 8, 2004 Updated: Mar 8, 20072004 Draught @ Belgian beer Fest. Light brown with some auburn highlights and a small off-white head. Smells of lightly sweet brown malts, touch of bourbon and sharp woody notes. Flavor proves to be much better than the aroma; plenty of lightly sweet brown malt makes up the base, but then you’ve got a wonderfully balanced light belgian yeast presence, followed by a dry nutty middle with hints of bourbon, ending on a dry spectacularly woody finish. Medium bodied, but very flavorful for what it was. Moderate carbonation. Eyedrinkale (3076), Beer Town, New York, USA Nov 8, 2004 Barrel aged version at Boston Belgian Fest. While in search of a 100 Barrel Series beer that I actually enjoy, Harpoon continues to dissapoint. I dont know how this is a double or if I could even taste and barrel ageing. Murky copper color with a light orange aroma. Taste is light, malty with even more orange juice flavor. Nothing going on here.
