A hearty malt base is complemented by sweet cherry juice and cocoa nibs added during fermentation in this decadent take on a traditional porter. Notes of rich chocolate and a hint of cherry sweetness make this full-bodied porter the perfect treat to share now or the cellar until next Valentine’s Day.

Originally reviewedon 6/1/14. Pours a deep brownish black body. The head starts out thick and fizzy, but recedes quickly and leaves some spotted lace. Aromas were of chocolate malts, yeasts, cocoa powder all were on the faint side. Mouthfeel is on the thick side, abv is hidden fairly well. Flavor is about the same as the aromas, no cherries coming through, a bit disappointing."

Bomber from State Line, 4/11/15. Clear dark red tinted brown, thin fizzy tan head, poor retention. Aroma of chocolate cake and cherries. Pretty spot on. The taste is chocolate, roasted malts, cherries, vanilla, cocoa, raisin. Thin bodied, mild lingering roast. Solid.

(bottle - 22 oz) Dark black pour with a thin tan head. Chocolate aroma with just a light hint of cherry. Some roasted malts as well. Flavor is kind of mild alas. Some chocolate with just the barest hint of cherry. Mostly cocoa and roasted malt.

22 oz / 650 ml bottle bottle purchased at One Stop Market. Aroma shows me mild roast, light chocolate and weak cherry syrup.

Upfront of the flavor of cherry syrup followed by weak chocolate and roast. Maybe I need to take a palate reset week because damn near every brew I have had lately seems like it has a very thin body, like this brew. Do I have palate fatigue??? Again, thin body. Oh wait this is a Harpoon beer, so the body should be thin. Positive aspect the ABV is hidden and it still tastes good.

Bottle gift from SJ. I really liked this brew. There was a lot going on. Notes of dark fruit like raisins and plums, roasted malts, brown sugar, bread and roasted malts. The finish was cherry and roasty. All these ingredients were masterfully blended. Well done!

Bottle. Pours brownish black wit a thin tan head. Aroma of chocolate, cherries, roasted malts and had a hint of coffee. Flavor of tart cherries, milk chocolate, roasted malts, light coffee and had a bit of caramel. Creamy smooth texture, medium body, soft carbonation.

This is a dark reddish brown. almost no head. Nose is a brown sugar malt, cocoa, some sweet birch syrup and faint tree fruit. It’s a decent nose. Sweet finish, up front is a woody sweet malty body with a faint cherry and almonds. not great but interesting.

Poured a half finger, beige, foamy head that receded rather quickly. It doesn't look as thick as I expected. Color is brown with mahogany tones. No lacing. A nose full of roasted malts, highlights of cherry juice sweetness, hints of cocoa nibs and strawberry Twizzlers. Medium bodied with tight medium carbonation. A hearty base of roasted malts and coffee flavors in the taste followed by sweet notes of cherry juice, hints of alcohol and chocolate, finishing with Twizzlers type sweetness and some leafy hops in the finish. Overall it's less sweet than I expected. Pretty solid. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
