COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Harpoon Brown is brewed to accentuate the sweeter, rounder notes derived from six different malts, including a de-husked chocolate malt that adds a hint of chocolate. The blend of these malts produces a beer that is complex and delicious without being heavy. This drinkable beer is perfect as a session beer or paired with foods.

I was just really bored with this all together. Six different malts huh? seems as if this was put together without much care as a way to get just another style under the brewery.

Had a decent roasted malt taste to it, as well as some nutty and caramel sweetness, but overall it was pretty weak. Not a bad beer, but not a very good one either. LC

A - Poured a crystal clear light brown/amber color with a touch of ruby. A little lighter than I would expect. Nice carbontation, little to no head. First thing I thought of when I looked at this beer in my glass..."looks thin." S - Not a very aromatic beer. Smells that are present are of sweet malts and fruit. T - Not a lot of flavor here and certainly nothing complex. I guess "session" can be defined as simplistic as this is just a bland beer. Not a lot going on. Faint flavors of sweet malts but it’s just very watery/thin. Certainly nothing offensive exists, but certainly nothing noteworthy either. More flavors are present as reaches cellar temps but this beer needs to be kicked up a notch. M - Very thin/watery. D - Scores high here b/c it is very drinkable. I actually feel as though a craft beer newbie could be given this as a sort of transition/gateway beer. Not a bad beer, just not a good one.

Draft at the brewery tour. Poured a clear brown color with an off white head. Pleasant aroma of fresh flowery hops, leafy greens, and a bit of chocolate. Light to medium bodied and delicately sweet The flavor profile included the likes of chocolate, nuts, and light flowery hops. Nice brown. More hop aroma and flavor that usual for the style.

This one was recently brewed, but really didn’t produce much head in the glass. Good sweet malt and just enough clean hops to balance the hint of chocolate. Very "sessionable" as intended.

poured a mild brown hue with a tan head that had good retention. Aroma was of mild malt notes mainly a nutty profile. Flavor was of a nutty malt notes. It seemed very thin and all though easy to drink was over disappointing.

12oz. Pour is mahogany with a small brown head for a 1/4 second. It looks like iced tea in the glass. Aromas of sweet malts, dark fruits, and slight hop presence. Flavor is hazelnut, earthy hops, caramel, and malt. Not bad and this one is definetly a "session beer" as per the label.

Pours a clear medium brown color with a small off white froth. Aroma is bready and slightly nutty with some chocolate roasted malt. A tiny hop character is noticeable but very background to the toasted grain. Flavor starts with a crisp malt bite that is followed by a more mellow chocolate and grainy sweetness. Some maple and honey in the finish which is abrupt. Medium body and active carbonation. Not a great brown ale. Decent balance of sweet to bitter but too thin and weak.
