In 1986 Harpoon co-founders Rich Doyle and Dan Kenary began brewing Harpoon in Boston to share with others the joy of makingóand drinkingógreat beer. In 2000, we added a second brewery in Windsor, Vermont to keep up with the demand. As a regional craft brewer, we gained interest and respect for cider, a drink with strong roots and history in New England. Harpoonís cider is our contribution to the long heritage of cider made with fresh juice from locally grown apples.

Harpoon Cider is made from a blend of locally grown apples including the New England favorite, McIntosh. By fermenting this blend of varieties with our own yeast we are able to produce an aroma that has a clean, fruity character. This crisp, refreshing cider has just the right balance of ripe apple sweetness and tartness from the fruitís natural acidity. The color of this smooth tasting cider is very light as a result of using only freshly pressed apples. Without the addition of preservatives, artificial colors, or sweeteners we have created a cider that is fresh, pure, and delicious. Enjoy!

Bottle. Pours just like apple juice with no head some faint wispy bubbles that just dissipates in seconds. Fresh apple juice aroma sweet with a crisp mouthwatering aroma of Mcintosh apples, great aroma. Very thin body quick apple notes, sulfides a dank malt tone and some light dry apple skin lingering. Well the aroma is great the flavor just doesnít hold up.

Cloudy brown body. Aroma is sweet apples and sugar. Flavor is very sweet and sugary. Almost too sugary as it overpowers most of the apple taste.

Bottle at Flying Saucer, Houston.
Pours an average clear yeller wití a strong apple juice nose. Kinda has a light, airy tingle. Yeehaw. Flavor is a funky perfumy peach and apple. Average mouthfeel. Weird taste.

bubbleflubber (2144) - Asheville, North Carolina, USA - FEB 25, 2010
Pours pale straw into the glass, with a fizzed out cola head. The nose is of pears. The sour flavors contain some processed version of Granny Smith apples, unripened pears, and maybe just a hint of sour lemon at the finish. As sours go, itís not acidic... the body is thin, the mouthfeel is watery, and the texture... well, there really isnít any complexity here. A good "starter" cider, I guess, but nothing to write home about or have again. Unimpressive.

( 12oz bottle ... courtesy of cavie) Pours clear as water with some carbonation but no head. Nose of apple, funk. Taste of lake, watered down apple concentrate. Lingers with rotten apples. This is nasty.

Draft: Apple aroma with buttery rubbery tinges. Clear yellow, little carbonation. Watery with weak apple flavor, dry rubbery finish. Good apple variety choice, awful execution. Weak AND flawed. Immediately re-rated because I was a bit harsh. I guess my disappointment was magnified by the rating. It isnít a drainpour (0.8), but it isnít very good either. Compassionately uprated.
