In 1986 Harpoon co-founders Rich Doyle and Dan Kenary began brewing Harpoon in Boston to share with others the joy of making—and drinking—great beer. In 2000, we added a second brewery in Windsor, Vermont to keep up with the demand. As a regional craft brewer, we gained interest and respect for cider, a drink with strong roots and history in New England. Harpoon’s cider is our contribution to the long heritage of cider made with fresh juice from locally grown apples.

Harpoon Cider is made from a blend of locally grown apples including the New England favorite, McIntosh. By fermenting this blend of varieties with our own yeast we are able to produce an aroma that has a clean, fruity character. This crisp, refreshing cider has just the right balance of ripe apple sweetness and tartness from the fruit’s natural acidity. The color of this smooth tasting cider is very light as a result of using only freshly pressed apples. Without the addition of preservatives, artificial colors, or sweeteners we have created a cider that is fresh, pure, and delicious. Enjoy!

On tap, Eli Cannon’s. Pours horribly pale gold-clear, reminding me of cheap printer paper. Aroma is of green apples, and fermenting alcohol. Flavor is decently fresh apple at first, with a light palate. Unfortunately the initial flavors dissipate quickly into slightly tart watery, alcohol flavors that just fail to appeal. I’ll pass in the future.

First of all I bought this one for my wife and I admit I only had a few sips of it. That was enough though. This pours very pale in color in comparison to other ciders I’ve had/seen with a lot of carbonated bubbles surfacing. No head at all. Looks like someone mixed water and apple juice. Some tart apple flavor, slightly dry, but not nearly sharp enough flavors and this is quite watery and thin. Heck, my wife thought it was bland as well. She doesn’t want it again and I’m not a big Cider fan so no need for me to buy it again.

Tap at the brewery. Poured a clear golden color with a fizzy white head. Pretty standard apple aroma reminiscent of apple juice. There was also a light buttery note. Light to medium bodied and sweet. I tasted apple and a touch of vanilla. Pretty standard without any offensive characteristics. I’d say it is a bit underrated at the 11th percentile (at the time of my rating).

Pours a lighter yellow color with white head. Apples is really the only thing that comes out on the aroma, maybe a slight hint of alcohol. Flavor was just apples but it wasn’t really a pleasant flavor.

Bottle. Pours a pale yellow color with a very small white head. Aroma of apples, basically apple juice. Flavor of apples and bread. Not very good.

(bottle - 12 oz) Clear yellow color with a soapy white head. Aroma is very sweet. Smells like apple juice. Not much else. Flavor is dry and medicinal with a middle of apple juice that takes over. Sweet and dry. Didn’t really care for it.

I bought this thinking it would be good for the ladies. They didn’t even like it. Low acl. content. Sweet apple flavor with no character at all. The was a poor example of a cider. I really like some of Harpoons brews...I hope they stick to beer.

Bottle. Pours a clear straw yellow with a small white head that falls off remarkably fast, comprised of fat soda sized bubbles. Alcohol, decomposing apples, and a bit of champagne yeast on the nose. Medicinal and metallic, cloyingly sweet, and tasting like a baked rotten apple, and almost flat and syrupy. Finishes with a little more of that old apple flavor. Not very good.

Bottle. Pours the color of champagne and has a little, fizzy head. Aromas are straight apple juice. Flavor is over the top apple juice with a little bit of an alcohol presence. This is much better than feared.

12oz bottle. Pour clear golden in color with no head at all. Aroma sweet and apples. Taste watery, mild apples and sweet with bitter finish.
