COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In 1986 Harpoon co-founders Rich Doyle and Dan Kenary began brewing Harpoon in Boston to share with others the joy of making—and drinking—great beer. In 2000, we added a second brewery in Windsor, Vermont to keep up with the demand. As a regional craft brewer, we gained interest and respect for cider, a drink with strong roots and history in New England. Harpoon’s cider is our contribution to the long heritage of cider made with fresh juice from locally grown apples. Harpoon Cider is made from a blend of locally grown apples including the New England favorite, McIntosh. By fermenting this blend of varieties with our own yeast we are able to produce an aroma that has a clean, fruity character. This crisp, refreshing cider has just the right balance of ripe apple sweetness and tartness from the fruit’s natural acidity. The color of this smooth tasting cider is very light as a result of using only freshly pressed apples. Without the addition of preservatives, artificial colors, or sweeteners we have created a cider that is fresh, pure, and delicious. Enjoy!

Draft… Clear, light straw-colored cider with no head. The aroma is of oven-baked, spiced apples. Light-bodied with a mildly creamy mouthfeel and a rumor of carbonation. Nice balance between sweetness and acidity. Tart, dry finish

Bottle shared by Spookgolds. 12oz from the beer store in Southampton, PA. Pour is very clear, watery yellow. Like white wine or watered down apple juice. Aroma is champagne, granny smith apples. Starts off ultra-sweet, finishes dry and tart. White wine/champagne/apple juice mixture. Sugary sweetness is overpowering, and I feel like all the moisture has been removed from my body. I’ll pass on this one in the future.

Bottle from the beer store. Pours like a white wine. Aroma of sweetness/apples. Taste starts out a little bit sweet and finishes dry. Pretty good.

Pour is like white wine, faint yellow with some slight orange tint on the edges. No head and very carbonated. Aroma is tart apples, apple juice, and some light sugary sweetness. Flavor is a tad thin with sweet apples in the body and tart apple finish. Light bodied, refreshing.

Pours light golden color with a bright white head. Smells of candy apples, sugar, and sweet sugary syrup. The flavor is similar with the sweet apples coming through on the palate, sweet sugary syrups, and is a bit tart in the finish.

Poured form bottle to snifter. Very light in color with no head. Aroma is very granny smith sour apple, and much of that comes across in the flavor as well. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Ok cider. I thought it was better than the reviews I have seen given for it on rate beer. The color is clear and pale, the tase is apple juice and the alcohol taste was absent.

ON the tap at the brewery it is good locally grown apple juice infused with Harpoon’s own ale yeast. It eats up the brew keeping the sugar down and that fresh apple flavor. Good fruit juice (especially apple) is great and they have taken a no nonsense approach to making a tart cider for beer drinkers with some body....They have succeeded! Looks just like clear apple juice.

On tap at the Bell in Hand Tavern in Boston. Clear pale gold with no head. There are scattered bubbles of effervescence rising to the surface suggesting light carbonation. Pleasant aroma of apples with some fruit sweetness. The flavor is apples along with some slightly musty apple skin. Refreshing after a walk on a warm humid day.
