canary dog (371), Rutland, Vermont, USA Feb 2, 2008 At about 55° this beer is wonderful. Deep hearty aroma and flavor, yet mellow and warm. Lush mouthfeel and rather clean finish. Tastes like a really, really well-made brown ale, with a touch of ESB thrown in, and added alcohol kick. An excellent brew.
(Rating #1756) Hank1980 (327), Athens, Georgia, USA Jun 1, 2008 Pours dark amber with an offwhite head and lacing. Aroma of sweet malt, fruit, hops, and some spice. Taste is sweet caramel with fruit and mild hops. Finish is sweet and a little bitter. Mouth is a little light. CelticBrew (426), The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA May 16, 2008 Pours a deep dark ruby amber, forms medium sized off white foamy head. Aroma of ocean water, malts, toffee and cane sugar. Flavour is full bodied, yum, a much more hardier english style ale. Instead of thin and watery, this beer has character. A bit of hops, spice with a candy rock likeness comes through. A decent suprise, I would love to try it on tap. Davin (48), Vermont, USA May 11, 2008 A nice warming beer. The alcohol is noted and appreciated. Strong caramel and malt flavor. There is a complex yeast flavor as well of maybe some apple and a small amount of Belgian type spiciness. Some earthy hop aroma to go with the malt. rocbyter (594), Waterbury, Connecticut, USA Mar 28, 2008 Strong old fruit and malt aroma. Hazy orange color with a large white head. Chunky lacing. Starts with a light malt bitterness then gets a nice citrus and alcohol finish that fades at a medium pace. Mild to moderate body very little creaminess.
