I think this is the sour that was put on after the Quad. Some nice tart cherry flavors with a bit of metallic and grassy flavor. Aroma is more sweet than the flavor with some oak. A little bit tart but mellow overall.

Tap at BCTC 2009: Hazy deep copper brown with a wispy off white head. Lots of buttery oak in the aroma with a fruity undertone of currant. Slick mouthfeel. The flavor is also dominated by buttery oak. There’s a caramel sweetness as well but it’s rounded and has a currant fruity back. Not really sour or acidic, but decent for a Harpoon attempt to the style.

Pouring at their booth at BCTC. Pours a light cloudy brown with a thin white head. Light vinegar and caramel notes. A bit sweet. Malty, with a light sourness. Finishes slightly woody with some light acid.

BCTC’09. Harpoon brings a sour red beer all the time it seems to Cooperstown and I really can’t tell the difference between them. Its obviously red. The beer is a bit too sweet with the aceto a bit too strong and not enough of a malt backbone. Its fine though and representative of what passes for a Flanders Red in the States nowadays. I could drink it but it needs some work to not just be an experiment brew.
