Commercial Description:
Frankenfest, brought to life by Harpoon brewer Mike Smith, was originally brewed exclusively for a beer festival held in Boston in 2004. The beer was greatly enjoyed by all who drank it - so much so that it has been resurrected as the latest offering in Harpoon's 100 Barrel Series. Frankenfest is brewed in the tradition of classic German Oktoberfest lagers. In order to replicate the complex malt character of the original, a blend of 8 different malts was used. The combination yields a slightly darker color and a toastier malt flavor. Frankenfest is judiciously hopped with three different varieties of hops that lend just enough bitterness to balance out the rich malt flavors. It has a dry finish compliments of an authentic German lager yeast and a longer rest in our conditioning tanks. The lingering malt complexity and dry finish make Frankenfest a wonderful match with many types of food. Enjoy.

Nice dark reddish color with a thick creamy head. I liekd the strong maltiness in this combined with the touch of roasted flavor.

22oz bottle acquired in trade with ppoitras (thanks!). Poured a medium and slightly hazy orangish / amber color with a large sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, toasted grains, and a little bread. Tastes of caramel, toasted malts, and toffee.

22 oz bottle. Pours a clean dark copper with a moderate off-white head. Aroma is of caramel and toasty malt, just a little bit of hops. Flavor is sweet caramel & Munich malts and toasted grains with minimal hop bitterness on the finish as well as some alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with fizzy carbonation. On the heftier side of things at 6.9%, this wasn’t as easy drinking as I had hoped. Drinkable but certainly not a favorite.

Clean, crisp yeast aroma. clear light orange color with an extra large white head that diminishes quickly. Good amount of lacing. Clean dried grass/grain taste. Palate it thick like all the Oktoberfests that I am a fan of.

Poured a brownish copper from the bomber with a slightly lacing thin white head. Malty aroma reminiscent of fall. Flavor starts and ends with wheat, middle flavor is malty with a touch of toffee. Problem with Octoberfest beers is it’s a simple beer with complex ingredients. Tough to pull off.

22oz bottle via trade with zathrus13 and shared with my brother-in-law last night - Pours nice copper color with a short tan head.. Aromas of caramel, and slight german hops. Flavor is quite malty with caramel and a little toffee, slight hops at the finish. Medium body and fair carbonation. Pretty average..
