COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed using locally-grown cranberries, this beer captures the spirit of a true New England Thanksgiving: the harvest celebration and the sharing of food amongst friends. Fermented with a traditional ale yeast that lets the cranberries provide the signature aroma, this beer is balanced by the ‘bready’ notes of the Vienna and Munich malts.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a pint glass. The label has a freshness date ("Best By" 01/15/11) and a description of the beer. It also mentions that Harpoon supports there local foodbanks from the sale of this beer. Appearance: The body has a reddish copper color with good clarity and a quick fading light off white head. Lacing is minimal and slick. Smell: The aroma has light scent with a mix of sweet/tart malts and cranberry. Taste/Palate: The flavor reflects the scent with a light to medium bodied malt sweetness with notes of caramel, sweet bread and pie crust. This is offset by light cranberry tartness and faint hop bitterness. Carbonation is light and the palate is a little sticky. Notes: For me this is just a good average beer. It’s not a stand out but it is more balanced then Samuel Adams Cranberry Lambic.

Poured from bottle: Pours redish with a thin white head. Aroma of bready malts and cranberry. Taste is a basic ale with cranberry mixed in. Mildly tart and sweet, but a little thin. Light body, decent beer.

Bottle. Pours darker golden color medium tan head. Aroma of bread, caramel, and berries. Medium sweet taste. Medium-thin body, oily texture, tart and mild bitter finish. Not a big fan of this one.

Moderate head that leaves some slippery lace. Dark amber/light brown color. Clear. Dark amber malt aroma with a touch of sour berry. A light honey sweet overlay to the smell. Dry malt flavor with a surprising level of hop in the finish. The cranberries are nearly imperceptible; shows up best in the swallow. Dry, short-lived finish. Creamy body with a lower carbonation. Overall, it’s a decent offering but resembles a dry amber ale more than anything else.

12/03/13 RAK gift from Jodi. By no means was this a bad beer; it just didn't have much of a flavor. No cranberry presence. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: DEC 21, 2010 Appearance is brownish and slightly red. The aroma is weak with a slight hint of fruit. Lacing is Sheets that disappear quickly as does the off-white head. Carbonation remains throughtout the drink and is mildly fizzy. While slight, cranberry is obvious in the taste. Frankly, I miss Sam Adams Cranberry Lambic, which was taken out of the Winter Classics. Oh, well, they did not ask me.

Ar: Hint of breadiness and tart cranberry. Ap: Crystal-clear copper - medium off-white head with moderate retention - a ring of foam and small pad of lacing. T: Toasty malt, pineapple fruitiness, up front - light sweetness - bready malt with a cranberry tannin dominates mid palate - bitter fruitiness on the finish that becomes a bit metallic. P: Medium body with high carbonation - finish is dry. O: Malty autumn ale, with some pleasant cranberry notes - some of the fruit tannins could stand to be cut back.

Odd greenish-red color (oak) with a thin head. Aroma is cranberry and spice. The cranberry taste is very light, a little more evident in the finish. Rather disappointing. It’s not horrible but my least favorite Harpoon to date.
