dpjuart (501), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 14, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours red amber with fizzy/foamy white head. Nose is sweet caramel with slight grape and raising and a touch of anise. Taste is malty caramel and toffee with a mild burnt flavor. Also a sweet, black licorice note. There is a mile bitterness throughout with a dry, crisp hop finish, slightly bitter in the aftertaste. Interesting beer, a bit more complex than I expected. Rather tasty.
nick76 (1960), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 22, 2008 The aroma is papery with caramel malts, toasted bread, yeast, and light hops. The appearance is red brow with a decent looking head. The flavor is like the aroma with a malty-toasty finish. The palate is smooth but thin. Overall not that great but easy to drink. wcampbell (380), Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 21, 2008 Pretty drinkable. Good flavor, but not much to it. Simple malt flavoring with some light bitterness. Brief, lightly bitter finish. Some crisp pilsener taste shows up as well. Slightly watery. rick10485 (53), oneonta, New York, USA Jun 1, 2008 Highly carbonated for a Irish Red. I would of liked a heavier head and stronger malt flavor. It really held more of a american ale flavor than a Irish red. Not too bad to drink, but dont buy it if you are looking for a classic Irish Red. esjaygee (664), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA May 31, 2008 Crystal clear amber with a light eggshell quickly fading head. Aroma of light toasted malts, light fruit and caramel. Taste is more of the same. Malted body with a mild peppery finish. sleepylopes (255), New York, USA May 19, 2008 noting if not easy drinking, a great session beer. subtle malt and just a touch of hop. i like it.
