3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours dark brown with thin , beige head. Aroma of roasted malt , raisins and chocolate. Didn't notice the maple syrup, probably because I've never tried it. Rather sweet taste of roasted malt , pleasant, roasted bitterness and notes of alcohol . Good beer , though alcohol could've been better disguised.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle (22oz): crest brown with off white head that does not last long. Taste is a typical brown/ porter with maple as advertised. I like porters and love maple, but have decided they are not necessarily supposed to go together.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a two-finger light brown head that fades quickly to a ring leaving traces of lace. Very dark brown color no highlights. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Light roasted malt nose and flavor is roasted malt and disappointing vague hints of maple. Label has ABV at 9.1% and it is hidden. 2014 on neck. $7.95 for a 22oz bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, Ma.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pouring at EBF 2014. Pours a clear cola brown with a medium tan head. Soft maple, toffee, roast on the nose. Warm and maple filled, yet not cloying. Just lovely. Maple candy flavors over soft chocolate and roast. Lingering chocolate and light warming alcohol.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
22 oz bottle pours a dark brown with a minimal tan head. The aroma is roasted malts, while the taste is a little bitter but has a sweet sugary finish from the maple syrup. There was no noticable maple aroma or flavor, which was disapointing. Overall an above average porter.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a very dark brown with a light tan head leaving little lacing. Roasted malt and a light scent of maple in the nose. Strong malt flavor with only slight notes of maple. Medium mouthfeel a little thicker than most porters. Pretty good beer overall.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
2014 22oz bottle served in a Porter Bar goblet.
Pours orange-brown, very dark but not quite opaque, with a small and only partially durable head. The feel is more lively and reflects more carbonation than suggested by the appearance. Full bodied with some warmth and slight harshness from the alcohol.
The aroma is sweet, with a suggestion of maple syrup, and nutty. These also describe the flavor athough there is ample bitterness to leave the bitter-sweet flavor seeming just slightly sweet. High ABV is too obvious; this might well benefit from some aging.
O: likely one of the best from Harpoon Brewery.
