COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In 2014, we visited our friends at the Scrag Mt. Sugar House in Waitsfield, VT to source over 100 pounds of local, organic maple syrup to brew with a hearty porter in this rich addition to our occasional releases. Local ingredients combine with brewing tradition to make for one enjoyable tribute to the change of New England seasons.

A subtle, dark, roasted character complements the rich maple sugar in the finish. Substantial head retention shows off the sweet, nutty, dark-sugar aroma, balanced by Willamette hops.

Pours a two-finger light brown head that fades quickly to a ring leaving traces of lace. Very dark brown color no highlights. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Light roasted malt nose and flavor is roasted malt and disappointing vague hints of maple. Label has ABV at 9.1% and it is hidden. 2014 on neck. $7.95 for a 22oz bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, Ma.

Bottle to glass. Aroma: maple, toasted barley. Look: dark black color. Thin. Medium grey ish white head. Taste. Maple, brown sugar, wood, cola, smoke, barley. Feel is smooth. Low carbonation. Good beer. Very tasty. My new favorite harpoon although winter warmer is still an old standby.

Pouring at EBF 2014. Pours a clear cola brown with a medium tan head. Soft maple, toffee, roast on the nose. Warm and maple filled, yet not cloying. Just lovely. Maple candy flavors over soft chocolate and roast. Lingering chocolate and light warming alcohol.

22 oz bottle pours a dark brown with a minimal tan head. The aroma is roasted malts, while the taste is a little bitter but has a sweet sugary finish from the maple syrup. There was no noticable maple aroma or flavor, which was disapointing. Overall an above average porter.

Pours a very dark brown with a light tan head leaving little lacing. Roasted malt and a light scent of maple in the nose. Strong malt flavor with only slight notes of maple. Medium mouthfeel a little thicker than most porters. Pretty good beer overall.

2014 22oz bottle served in a Porter Bar goblet. Pours orange-brown, very dark but not quite opaque, with a small and only partially durable head. The feel is more lively and reflects more carbonation than suggested by the appearance. Full bodied with some warmth and slight harshness from the alcohol. The aroma is sweet, with a suggestion of maple syrup, and nutty. These also describe the flavor athough there is ample bitterness to leave the bitter-sweet flavor seeming just slightly sweet. High ABV is too obvious; this might well benefit from some aging. O: likely one of the best from Harpoon Brewery.

(Bomber bottle). Little maple flavor or aroma noted. However, this is a solid imperial porter with subtle sweetness and smooth palace. Elevated ABV very well hidden. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
