4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Steak (124) - New York, USA - MAY 18, 2002
The enitre character of this beer seems to be based on the citrusness of itself. The aroma was predominately citrus, mostly grapefruit, and a bit floral and a bit hoppy. Golden light bronze color that is a little dark for IPAs. So citric in taste as I got hints of grapefruit, lime, and orange...nice. Hops were not overly abundant, but had enough presence to be noticed in the finish. A bit fruity, but I personally like this interpretation of an IPA.

UPDATED: JAN 11, 2004 Re-rate 5/18/02: Maybe this beer has changed, or maybe my tastes have changed, but this beer tastes nowhere as good as it used to. First rating: A wonderful hoppy beer. Light enough to drink all night and with a flavor that makes you want more.
2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 JohnC (2910) - Mission Viejo, California, USA - MAY 1, 2002
This IPA doesn’t compare well w/ some of the others I’ve had. It isn’t hoppy enough. The initial taste is bland, w/ a somewhat hoppy finish. Also, it doesn’t have as much aroma as other IPA’s
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 hennes (932) - Fountain, Michigan, USA - APR 30, 2002
Rerate (in comparison to Bell’s Two Hearted). In different company this thing doesn’t shine quite as brightly, but it’s still a strong, decent IPA, one good for introducing folks to the style.
Original rating: 11/19/01 Well, I made a strong attempt to try all the local brews, but the best beer I had on my recent Baltimore trip was this one, far and away. This may be because I was there to party and this beer is exceptionally quaffable, its spicy hops strong but not overly challenging and the balance accomplished with a pleasant berry accented malt.

This is a re-rate since I have grown to love IPA’s now - a true copper color, nice & hoppy, just the right amount of spice & hops in the finish & aftertaste, very smooth, good IPA
2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 michael-pollack (4880) - King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 13, 2002
A poor excuse for an IPA.
3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 belgianhomebrew (646) - Acworth, Georgia, USA - APR 9, 2002
Slightly malty, little hop aroma. Not very hoppy for an IPA. Pretty average for the style. Still, quite a drinkable beer.

2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 VA Homebrewer (525) - Portsmouth, Virginia, USA - MAR 28, 2002
RE-RATE: Interestingly, nearly one year since I last tasted this. I’m giving it a slight bump in score as I believe I was a bit harsh originally. Not much of a Cascade or hop nose. More like dirty gym socks. Caramel malt tickles your tongue somewhat up front and quickly subsides to an astringent hop middle and a well balanced ending. I still contend that this brew does nothing to distinguish itself, as it seems to be an IPA geared towards a person who is just dabbling into the world of beer. Not quite hoppy enough and not even close to full bodied or full flavored, although it does improve as it warms. ORIGINAL: (3-26-01) This is a poor excuse for an IPA. The six pack I had was out of balance with no distinguishing chacteristics whatsoever.
