UPDATED: FEB 23, 2003 Had this while sailing the contaminated waters of lake erie..Had a nice hop bite, under developed malts, and a refreshing mouthful..better than average IMO, and all my friends thought it was great (that actually means nothing though)
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 savitska (163) - Smyrna, Georgia, USA - NOV 18, 2002
A very drinkable IPA. Not to hoppy, but still full of character. A good balance of the fruity nose and bitter finish.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 goz (359) - Chelmsford, Massachusetts, USA - NOV 18, 2002
UPDATED: DEC 7, 2003 Pours a dark golden/light amber, with a large cloudy white head, lacing is superb in it's sheeting and strength. Aroma is mostly strong floral hops, with a bit of caramel malt holding it together. Flavor is slightly malty up front, with a big juicy hop finish that dominates the palate and lasts for a while. Medium bodied, extremely drinkable.

I dont know what to say. The taste was way too bitter and it didnt go down that smooth. I didnt like it at all.
2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Iconoclast7399 (4) - USA - NOV 5, 2002 does not count
Very different IPA, way too strong for an IPA. Bitter aftertaste, even more bitter than the ESB. Yuck. Worth trying, but nothing i would ever buy a case of
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 apoptosis (1317) - Denver, Colorado, USA - NOV 2, 2002
Much smoother on tap than in bottles. Has a nice flavor. On a second rating, though, I really don’t care for it all that much. It lacks a lot of flavor and although its pretty to look at, I won’t buy it again.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Uglyradio (791) - Greenville, South Carolina, USA - NOV 2, 2002
I like IPA’s, so I thought I would try this one. More a deep golden color than copper, big white rapidly dissipating head. Hoppy aroma, though not as strong as some. Very smooth with a slight bitter finish. Not a lot of bite to this one, seems to be fairly well balanced with the malts. This is not a bad IPA, just average. I like mine with a little more punch to them.
2.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20 JCW (1273) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - NOV 1, 2002
Not much bite on the finish, a very mild IPA. Thanks JPKnight22 for this brew.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 proc (342) - Dearborn, Michigan, USA - NOV 1, 2002
A fine IPA and one of the most balanced IPA’s I’ve tried. While hoppy, it doesn’t have that one-sided hoppiness of most IPA’s. It has a nice balance to it that lets the malt shine through as well. I swear I detected the taste of cloves, similar to a hefeweizen, which only added to my enjoyment. A fine beer. I wish it were distributed here in the Midwest.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 UnionMade (621) - Connecticut, USA - OCT 28, 2002
Hoppy. Very bold and bitter, with a slight undertone of malty sweetness and a touch of citrus. One of Harpoon’s best brews.
