3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JUN 26, 2005 $3 Pint on tap in Chapel Hill, NC. True to it’s name, a pale gold color, unconvincing head. Bitter hoppy finish.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JAN 16, 2007 Seems to be in line with more of a Brit IPA than American. Some faint floral, citrusy hops in the aroma, but it is mostly dominated by the crystal malts used. Overall seemed quite similar to their Ale, just beefed up with some additional hopping (perhaps dry-hopped). Flavor is a bit musty and fruity, but finishes with a quick hit of hoppy bitterness. Palate seems a bit thin and watery.

Not bad, tried it out in Cape Cod this summer on tap and enjoyed it. However, it loses something in the bottling and trip down to Virginia. Flavor isn’t bad, with some citrus and sweet flavors. Palate is lacking, feels thin. Finish has some bite to it, but not as much as I’d like. Overall, it’s pretty good, just not distinguished

2.3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Hey, what happened here? I had this on tap in boston and thought it was great. Anyway, pours v. light yellow, head diminishes to traces but strangely gives good lacing. Bright, clear and copper in a shaker glass. Not getting any IPA aroma. Really close to watery mouthfeel. Flavors are light but somewhat interesting. Lots of butterscotch. Some tinny macro overtones. No proper IPA bitterness in the back. Ghandi would have been a shoe salesman if the British tried to survive on this one.

Bottle. Fizzy, decent head. Copper and clear. Floral aroma with some caramel thrown in for good measure, but it’s in the background. It’s a bit watery and thin. Hop flavor is barely there. It almost tastes chalky. All in all, it’s uninspired and average at best

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
One of the two standards, in my book, for American IPA’s (the other being Sierra Nevada). Floral and hoppy aroma from a dull straw color. Good hoppy bite upon first tasting. I actually prefer this beer a few degrees above room temp, as I think more hop flavors appear. All in all, a well deserved staple pull at most NE pubs.

1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
Orange coloured. Very dissapointing. It is weak and thin. The aroma and the flavour are not hoppy. It has unpleasant fishy notes.

This is a decent IPA. Not fantastic, but a good hearty flavor, good appearance, a well done beer overall.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
standard east coast american IPA. Deep copper/light amber with a fading head. Aroma is balanced with hops and malt. Some spice/ herbal and fruity hops in the aroma and flavor. Good solid malt backbone. Somewhat minerally in the finish though.
